Thanks, Joe. A 2” brim looks a lot different on me than it does you.
A little, yes, but I think your new Cavanagh looks damn good on you Brent!
I agree with Al

I keep forgetting to mention how much I like this hat. I'd probably crease the crown a bit lower, but that rich blue color is wonderful! On the second day of StingyMas we attended a socially distanced outdoor wedding. I went with this beautiful dark blue 1950s Dobbs Twenty that came to me via @jlee562

That's a nice one! I really like that green color a lot! I had a grey 707 awhile back but it was a little too snug so I passed it on to my brother. Definitely it was some of the softest felt I've ever laid hands on. Does yours have the little rocket looking pin on the ribbon?Olive green Resistol 707

The felt is very nice on this one. The pin, if it had one, is long gone. That's a nice one! I really like that green color a lot! Nice! Do you have any pics of the liner or sweatband?Hi All,
This is a hat that I found a few months ago. Working on it kindled my interest in vintage hats. It is a 50's era Dobbs that was in really ratty condition. It got steamed and shaped, the bow ironed, and the liner pulled and cleaned...... I originally wanted to pork pie the hat, but the more I worked it, the more it "spoke" to me and it is now a teardrop pinch front. Merry StingyMas to one and all!
Thanks so much Al. It is becoming a favorite for sure. I imagine I’ve probably squashed the crown down a bit since I took the original photos. But still fairly tall.I keep forgetting to mention how much I like this hat. I'd probably crease the crown a bit lower, but that rich blue color is wonderful!
Way to represent sir! At $16.50 this hat was pretty high end in the early 1960s. Great color and classic lines. On the Third Day of StingyMas... another old favorite

Love that Cavanagh Thirty. Looks great on you MikeOn the third day of Stingymas, my true love said to me..."do you really need another hat!" Of course Santa, I always do. This early 1960s Cavanagh 30 has been in my stable for a while, one of my favorites. If there ever was a poster child for the Stingy Brigade, this hat fits the bill. Incredible felt, Cav edge (of course, they invented it) and a rich dark chocolate color. This style from the early 1960s was all the style, a favorite of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack.

I like those funky 60s-ish liners some oh these type of hats had.Dobbs seems to be making a presence on this third day of Stingymas, so I might as well continue the trend:
A nice Herringbone tweed that could come in handy to keep my head warm. It's supposed to be in the high-40s (°F) tonight, which is pretty cold for this part of southern California.
Cool ribbon and liner
Love that ribbon. Cool one!
