Looking for a new "holy grail" shoe

I'm looking for a men's shoe design that's practically impossible to find, new or vintage: the classic 1920s-'40s 'moccasin' golf shoe. It was a hugely popular style for men's and women's golf shoes for decades, but IMO the best-looking version looked EXACTLY like this:

Except for the Crockett & Jones model made for Polo Ralph Lauren (in the photos above), there seems to be no size 9 shoe on the bargain market --anywhere-- that precisely duplicates the classic moccasin golf shoe of the '20s-'40s. It's relatively easy to find vintage ladies' ones -- but a men's version, new or vintage, in a size 9? No dice so far.


What I really, really want is this exact shoe (and I do mean "exact"), in a size 9D, but all brown. I've never seen a better-looking style to wear with plus-fours (knickers). Any leads?

Good question. No, it doesn't need to have cleats ... but all the other details must be there. The piecework, dimensions, shape and overall silhouette must be just about identical.

my office is literally littered with a TON of vintage shoes. I've found a few similar shoes, but that seam on the side goes all the way back (ala longwing style) and they all have a split toe. A couple do have the 4 eyelets, though. Gotta keep searching!

Yep! Same problem here. Lots of vintage 1960s (and contemporary) shoes to be had with a split toe, a longwing, and/or a plain back. None in my size seem to have a one-piece toe and a capped back. Arrrggghh!


Seriously: this shoe is perfect for plus-fours. It's clean and simple: neither too rounded nor too pointed. The vamp is neither too high nor too low. It's neither too chunky nor too streamlined. When you wear plus-fours, your feet really stand out: the wrong pair of shoes make your feet look either like bricks or like pencil points.

Very nice pair... but for women, very small & 2-tone. They look very nice, though. I'd wear them if they fit!

Yep, and that's the frustrating thing: vintage women's shoes in this style aren't difficult to find, but men's in my size seem impossible. Maybe because male golfers tore up, wore out and threw out their shoes ... and female golfers didn't?
