I realize this is a very old post & don't know if you still own this pipe. It's a Silva & most that surface are in countries like Portugal. The stem is Catalin or Bakelite which dates to the 1920's & so the pipe can't date to the 1890's like someone posted above.

Thank-you, much appreciated! I do indeed still have the pipe. It's a favourite design, though I don't tend to smoke it with any regularity as it's too nice to 'ruin'. I've never tried removing the stem on mine for fear it would break. I love the deco-ish shape to it, though. I'd buy new ones if someone still made 'em; it's a great size for when you want a shorter-duration of a smoke, not wasting half a bowl by having to tip it out or rushing it. Nice to know its origins. I wonder if it was brought back to the UK on holiday or if they were sold here originally? I bought it years ago on eBay, knowing nothing other than the shape. I have smoked it when in white tie in the past!

I just received this 1944 Dr Grabow Supreme 9485 Pre-Smoked estate pipe. (Billiard Stubby?)
It's most likely Mountain Laurel instead of the advertised Imported Briar. Lovingly used so I have a good bit of cleaning to do to it. (Sorry for my oily finger prints on it.)
In decent shape just the same and with a touch of chatter on the bit (mostly the underside.) no matter...doesn't look too terrible and should clean up nice.
I didn't pay much for it at all and I will very rarely puff on it. :p

Just received this circa 1937 Linkman's Dr. Grabow Deluxe Bruyere 9902 with Patent 1896800 on the bottom and "propeller" emblem on top.
Looks to be in really good shape. Seems barely used.
A little cleaning and I'll give it a puff in the near future...

Congratulations! Patent pipes regardless of the brand are getting fewer & farther inbetween. You can look up to see what the patent was for since you have the number.
