Amy Jeanne, this fabric pattern is so adorable, is it repro?

The fabric is new/repro -- it's from ladybuttonfabrics.com.

I made the same skirt in brown corduroy:

And another pillow just for fun:

Amy Jeane- That skirt is so much cuter then the pattern illustration. It looks amazing on you.

Thanks DPD!!! I was very upset that my hips were a bit too big and waist was much too small, but I've been covering it with jackets this time of year!! I can put off altering it for now

I still need to add the back hooks and eyes to this. Then it should fit better on top. It took me an 1 1/2 just to hem it. I can't beleive how slow I am.
I have been sewing a lot and will have lots more substandard creations to post soon.

Oh how I adore this dress - it looks fabulous on you and so flattering! What pattern is it?

I experimented and cut the skirt o the bias. I like it, even tho the secondary plaids dont match up because the design wasnt square. rats!

With this one, I didnt extend the front bodice enough to my liking so Im going to redo the front. I also added shoulder pads after this shot. I LOVE the fabric, and it turned out so much like the original picture. Once I redo the front, Ill wear it a lot more :)

Oh, dear. All of the talented ladies have made me so envious! I really want to learn how to sew now!!

In any case, yesterday I finished my 1st vintage pattern. It's a little gray and silver bolero with a pearly vintage button. I thought it was turning out badly and put it away for a couple weeks but yesterday I finally found the gumption to finish it love the way it turned out! So here it is, my first mohair sweater!

LD -- I love it! I love the yellow button. Great touch. Also, the bottom lefthand photo looks like a fish with it's mouth open and it made me giggle a little bit.

Here's what I've been doing:

1940s skirt made today all by myself. The checks are just a tiny bit off in places, but for the most part they look pretty decent. Not bad for someone who's only been sewing since September!! From this:

That's all!!

OMG! Then there's still hope for me.;) You did well though.:)

Marzipan -- it really looks cute! Doesn't look wonky at all! My stuff still can be wonky at times -- especially the hems. Bleh. One thing I hate is skirt hems!!

Sew every single day. Even if it's the same thing over and over again. I made 3 of the same apron to start with. They got better with each one. I also made several pillowcases just to keep in practice. I've also been getting together with a pro seamstress and she's been showing me the basics, but other than that I'm on my own. I sew just about everyday.

But, I don't know how to use a machine at all. I mean, I don't even know how to thread the needle.

I feel like I've taken a giant step in knitting with this sweater. Now to tackle all of my patterns... bwah, ha, ha, ha! (evil laughter resounds malevolently)

What kind of sewing machine are you using?

I just went ahead and bought a machine and read the manual. It won't make sense at first, but once I started getting the feel for my machine it started to make perfect sense! Sewing was and is something I desperately want to learn!! I know I may never be as good as my seamstress friend or the FL's own Lauren, but I'm happy with learning the basics. Still need hem patience!! lol

LD, those are wonderful! I wish I had your talent, because I sure do need some winter dresses; Nebraska gets quite cold ;). I especially like the top one and the double breasted one.

I think I'll make a self-fabric belt. To me, the black one interrupts the line, but since it's a cotton lycra blend, the waist is a bit loose without a belt.

Thank ladies.
Yeah, I love the double breasted number, but Id call that an 'advanced' pattern. All the instructions were on the envelope (a couple of paragraphs), There were no facing piece for the collar or the front of the bodice, or the cuffs, so I had to make some up. But I do so LOVE the look. I just need to extend the front bodice about 1 1/2" so it will hit at my waist. So Im gonna rip out the current front bodice pieces and redo it.

Ill post before and after so you will see the difference in fit. Because I KNOW it will make a huge difference.

And Kamikat, I so agree, the fabric belt will look smashing with that number :)

That dress looks gorgeous on you, Kamikat! I'm delighted to see a dress with those hip gathers all made up, instead of just on a pattern envelope. I thought they'd look a little odd, but they really look nice. :)
