I am loving this picture TLQ sent me (she's the blonde, I'm the brunette) from years ago, the dress I am wearing is one I made out of a totally differently built 30s dress (so it works in this thread, right?). It now belongs to a lovely young Lounger... who hasn't posted pics of herself in it yet...

It's based on Simplicity 4559, the Theresa LaQuey. The pattern is retired, so I made it up as I went along, drafting my own. I'm pretty pleased with my results! It's my first drafting job

It is still available on the Simplicity website under Out of Print costumes, but it's in a funny section, so you have to go hunting for it.

I just put the pattern number in the search box and it's still there. All sizes from 6 - 20 at $11.95.

Yeah, I had found it, but I was on a budget, so I decided against ordering it. If I had bought it when I first saw it, I could have gotten it for $6 at my local fabric store... Oh well. I'm pleased with my results.

The dress is actually red, bright red. Those pics are a bit dark.

I didnt think I could pull it off, but it works fine.

LadyDay, you are such a fast seamstress - amazing!! I just had to clear off the dining table where I sew in prep for Thanksgiving, so all sewing is on hold!

:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap Ladies! One day I'll be as good as you all are! ONE DAY!! There's not a day that's gone by over the past two months where I haven't sewn a little SOMETHING and I am getting slowly better!

From a 1952 pattern. A party exploded on me. It came with a pattern for a belt, but I'll probably end up buying a shiny pink one. I also shortened it -- full, long 1950s skirts always make me feel like I should be in a play or something. This dress was also my first experience with darts, sewing in a zipper, and bunches.

Another apron, only this one is almost perfect! I made it for my mum-in-law -- Norman Rockwell is her favourite artist so I figured this would be the perfect fabric.

Probably not everyone's taste, but I've also been making some pillow cases.

Don't know if you can tell, but I LOVE colourful, tacky designs

I have this fabric! lol Never thought of using it as a pillowcase.
You aprons are fantastic, Amy Jeanne, and that pattern on the dress works great with you sleeves.

For give this pose I was just trying to show the pants off.

I made the bolero and pants. I cut the pant pattern wrong which is why I added the red stripe down the side.

I still need to add the back hooks and eyes to this. Then it should fit better on top. It took me an 1 1/2 just to hem it. I can't beleive how slow I am.
I have been sewing a lot and will have lots more substandard creations to post soon.
