I finally finished a sewing project! This is from a Butterick pattern from 1938. I still want to make the jacket and sash- the sash from red silk crepe and the jacket probably an off white linen.

The fabric I found new, and it's surfing cowboys. I love it! My lights were casting a funny glow on the fabric, but it is all the same color. haha.

Wow, absolutely fantastic, the fabric is great and it suits the dress style soo well.

Ladies,

Let me introduce you to my latest project, my little girl, Georgia Poppy! Born Februrary 26th and I'm so proud of my little Peach.

And thanks ladies for all of your inspiring craftiness to get me through my pregnancy and my crazy job. I've been rather quiet this past year and it might continue, but I love reading and seeing everyone else's great handiwork. I just need to nurse mine!

It's so funny--it feels like yesterday that I asking for tips on how to do a vintage style wedding on the lounge in 2006 and now I have a whole new little one to introduce to the way of vintage! Tee hee!

Thanks, gals! Yay! When I eventually make the bolero and belt I'll post it on here, too.
I got the fabric in the garment district in LA. I wish there had been more, but I got the rest of the bolt for a dress for me and a shirt for my husband. I think it was only $4 a yard and is a rayon.

Wow, very well priced, here in the Netherlands you dont find that sort of novelty printing and anything a bit different end ups being like 15 euro per m.
I have got to pay up to 25 Euro per m for a lovely gabardine fabric, but mind you, it was like a sort of accident, I only realized about the price when i went to pay for it at the counter.

Do you have in LA any sort of street markets?? I discovered that here is the only place where you can buy fabrics for decent money and get good stuff!

Well, there are normal fabric stores where the prices of fabric can be quite expensive- near to the prices you say but per yard. The garment district in Los Angeles is all bolt ends and wholesale, though for shopping on the street and not in showrooms you most often do not need a wholesale license. It's where I get most of my fabrics from- I do a trip up there once or twice a year and stock up! It's most economical. It's close to a street market in that the prices are often negotiable, especially if you're buying many yards. This fabric I found most unusual- the print looks so vintage! It can be difficult to find prints that actually look vintage.
We have some flea markets here but I haven't seen many with fabric. I love going to them, though! I'm always on the hunt for deals!

I absolutely love this piece, ill try to get hold of that pattern too!!

I have also been busy lately, the lack of jobs in the Netherlands has got me into frantic sewing, something I will keep on doing for when I get back to London later this year, but nevertheless, my stuff is very faaaaaaaaaarr to be as cool as some of these beauties posted here!!

And I made the top left version (maroon colored), almost like the dress the model is wearing but with a sweetheart neckline and three small buttons down the front. I also added a black sash around the waist. The fabric is a gorgeous light peach color and babypink satin lining.

I don't have a pic of me full lenght, I only have from the waist up.. I'll post it the what are you wearing thread..

I just finished a 1955 apron dress, but it's not my size (I'll be selling it), so no pics yet.

Of course, I can't find any of my pictures of things I've made except this one, which is the first dress I ever made, from a 1964 pattern (although I always felt the final product had an older feel...):
