Okey dokey! I finished this dress on wednesday morning, and was hoping to wear it to work for New Years, but the sleeves were just a tiny bit too tight for table waiting! Drat! (I did a mock up for everything but the bottom of the sleeves, silly me. Next time, next time.)
Happily, it will be just fine for a dinner date or cruise around town--just not for reaching across customers with an armfull of plates. :)
It's made of novelty cotton from the holiday section at Joann's, and a mail order pattern from the late 30's/early 40s.
I'm diggin' it.

Made this yesterday.....
I love this pinwale corduroy so very much---I knew it would be a bitch to match all the seams (it's 6 gored), but I think for a first attempt it turned out fairly well...and I love how the paisley's took on a life of their own. I had only planned on matching the hipline, so it was neat to see all the other shapes and swirls work together in new and exciting ways.

From a 40's Marian Martin housedress pattern... The fabric has little duck/bird creatures on it. Pay no mind to my goofy face!! :p

That is ADORABLE!!!! Oh my gosh, I love it! Time for me to make a housedress! :)

Thanks! You should make it. I'm going to return it this week. I don't know if you know, but the front bodice piece has a huge rip in it! I had a bit of a time finding my dart o's!!!

I didn't get a chance to make the other one. I ran out of fabric funds. But thank for letting me borrow it anyway!

You did what I do all the time because Im left handed, get my sides mixed up and never pay attention, you put the buttons on the mens side of your blouse. Womens shirts fold over the right, mens over the left.

Who cares!
Looks great.

I've never opened it, so I didn't know about the rip. Sorry! As for the other dress, just trace it onto old newspaper and photocopy the instructions. That way you can make it when you get the chance. That's what I did with yours. It's going in the mail today!

LD -- I'm random with all my buttons!! Whatever side I feel like putting them on is where they go! I get my left and right confused a lot

Kamikat -- DURRRHH!! I didn't even think about tracing the pattern! I have the perfect wide roll of parchment paper, too.

And thanks gals!
