I have that simplicity pattern and am thinking about putting the skirt together as a mock up before I actually try it properly (I'm still learning and very slowly) but I'm releived to hear that its easy...!
how does it hang, is it flattering?

The skirt is really two pieces. The side pieces, you cut 4, and the two center gores, you cut two on the fold. I had to compensate for my bum, (next time, Im going to add some darts in the back for better drape) I added 3" and adjusted the hem as needed, because I find the skirt is a bit short for me (Im 5' 7") and I like my skirts to hit a about 1 1/2" below the knee. I just added the side zipper on my own, not the way they said in the directions.

That's why I always check the finished measurements! ...But it's good to know, as I have that pattern too, and have been contemplating the skirt!

Yeah, Im really disappointed with the 'retro' patterns. I want to make the jacket, but if I have to worry that much about the ease and sizing, Im not going to bother. I will have a better time adjusting a vintage pattern then messing with this one.

And Honey Doll, those are fan-tabulous. I wish I could do the jumper thing, but Id look silly. But that blue and white flower number is beautiful!

Wow Honey Doll, I love all your new clothes. You've made some lovely pieces.

Hey, can someone else check out the patternreview site. I just tried to go there and was redirected somewhere else and I'm not sure if its me or the website.

Okay, last thing for a looooog while, I promise.

Lyburnum posted this supercute skirt in the purchases thread, and I was fascinated by the pocket treatments, so much so that I stared at it for ten minutes and decided to try it out on a pair of shorts.

The front inside I made with a light cotton so it wouldnt add bulk to the front. They look supercute! This will be a great treatment on a suit! :D

I was hoping to show you girl a cute sailor dress but it turned out horrible, so I made a very simple skirt instead out of some leftover fabric. I needed a skirt that wasnt pencil or a full skirted one, so I came up with this. The sides are higher than the rest, just to make something a little different. (I should pull it down so it covers my knees though).

EDIT: it doesn't really stick out that much in the back, I think it is due to lack of a pressing and the way I stand.

Here's my latest outfit. I've made this outfit a couple times and been quite happy, but this one seems a bit matronly to me. The skirt is from reissued Simplicity 0517

Ooh, you do look lovely Kamikat. It has a nice shape. I remids me of the retro butterick 5214.

BTW, I'm working on it right now and it is awesome, great shape to the jacket and it looks great with the skirt. I haven't finished the top yet, but I'll post when I finish it. The jacket's so slimming on TOS (the other Sally) that I'll probably make it again pretty quickly.
