Veronica Lake was sure a beauty!!Veronica Lake
There's a hat in there, too, in case you didn't notice.
Cochise must be a pretty popular name for Paint's. I had one when I was a kid. Mine was a mare and I rode her in 4-H. She was great herding stock as well.Lee's favorite horse was the Appaloosa pictured he named Traveller. Traveller is now buried on the campus of Washington & Lee University just a short distance from the Lee family vault. When I was growing up my grandfather's favorite horse was a big speckled Appaloosa he named Traveller in honor of Lee & his Appaloosa. He always said Traveller rode like a Cadillac. My grandfather also owned two Indian Paint horses named Cochise & Chiricahua Jack. I have used all 3 names in naming my horses & dogs to honor these animals, my grandfather & General Lee.
I was at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago yesterday, and they had Jimmy Durante's actual Dobbs hat!
Old photo, that I posted a few years back, but it is worth the repost.

Wow, that's kinda cool to know that I have that exact model hat, right down to the color.
Here is an interesting 24 min video on Charles Goodnight & Oliver Loving. I didn't realize that Goodnight had been a member of the Texas Ranger troop that rescued Cynthia Ann Parker after 25 yrs with the Comanche Indians.
"Inka Dinka Doo"Now you just need to find a Mrs. Calabash (wherever she is).
