Just try to find a wool cloth that has this weave. This is from a late 1950s American sportcoat.
Another eBay find. Seller had it listed as from the '50s, but when I received it I found it has the pre-1949 union tag and a nice high gorge.

My shirtmaker calls that the 'V Zone' though I don't know of any other shirtmakers who do. He also makes suits so he knows better than to misuse the term gorge[/]. But what do you really expect from Ravis tailors...'Bespoke' custom tailoring via the internet..[huh]The gorge is that point where the lapels meet in the front and create a V of sort between which the necktie is visible against the background of the shirt.
