Seriously considering buying an Akubra Hampton

I already have a new Stetson Saxon, but would like to know if there's really that big of a difference. Looking at pics online of the Hampton, there doesn't seem to be much difference on the surface. Something tells me it might be a different story though, once I get the Hampton in my possession (and on my head). I still want to hear things like, "Dude, there is just no comparison!", stuff like that. I should also add that I'm never really sure if the Saxon looks that good on me. Please share your insights if you feel inclined to.

"Dude"...here is the Akubra Whippet (same as Hampton)...think it will be different from the Saxon..like different from `english classic` and `american modern`...if you know what I mean...

Why not pick up an Akubra Hampton/Whippet in a different color to complement your Saxon and add your opinion to the mix.

Now there's a dissenting voice! :eusa_clap I am glad to hear someone believes that Stetson's felt is superior to Akubra's. I did mention to my wife that I would like to get the Hampton (or the Whippet) and may be getting one next month. I just wish I didn't have to order it from Australia to make a side-by-side comparison!

If that's the one pictured on EA's site, it's a good color. The brim's too stingy for me, but it's a good-lookin' hat.

EA = Everything Australian. I've bought 3 Akubras from them & had good experiences with them. I don't think they're as fast as Hats Direct, but they're not usually as expensive, either.

Unfortunately, it says there's a 3 month wait for a Cedar Brown Hampton.

How about City Hatters? Supposedly they have 6 Cedar Brown Hamptons in my size. Do you know anything about them?

Yikes! They're also $40 higher at City Hatters than at EA. No wonder they have 6 left. :eusa_doh:

No, I don't know a thing about City Hatters. I've only ordered Akubras from EA, but some other options include Hats Direct, David Morgan, and Noggintops. (Fellow Loungers, if I've missed any good sources, chime in here.) I don't know which ones of those carry the Hampton, but you could check them out.

I took a peek at those stores. Looks like HD carries the Hampton, but only in black. I didn't see it at Noggintops or David Morgan, however.
