That’s a good idea.
Is there any other hide that is as strong as kangaroo hide?
By the way, I saw a salmon skin leather jacket.

Real McCoy’s Barnstormer coat. The leather of Real McCoy’s leather garments are very thin and it cannot withstand daily use. The price is US$3592.00.

When I was living in the US, American Bison was at the verge of distinction. The hide is available? That’s great!

Cecil Miskin, a retired attorney, is one of the leaders of efforts in the US to build up numbers. This video tells a bit of his story.

Below is a jacket made from Texas bison.

I hope the American bison will keep on increasing.
The grain of this bison hide jacket looks good. It resembles to my bullhide jacket made by Alan Zaffrin, the owner of Johnson Leather in San Francisco.
The hair of the American bison is so dense that I would like to have a jacket made of hairy bison hide.

Does anyone know about water buffalo hide? Is it durable?
Japan imports a lot of water buffalo horn from Southeast Asian countries like Thailand. Comb makers and signature stamp makers uses the horn because it doesn’t violate the Washington Convention. They used to use ivory for signature stamps but ivory cannot be imported legally.
Water buffalo hide seems to be tough but hide of wild animals tend to be thin and light as possible so it won’t interfere with their movements.

Dunno about water buffalo, but if we are talking about uncommon hides I should mention yak leather. I read some good things about it, might be obtainable out of Mongolia or China.

The buffalo that Thedi uses is water buffalo. So, you can look at his jackets and talk to people who own Thedis.

Concerning American bison leather, I own numerous items, ie jackets, wallets, bags, gloves, etc. In terms of durability, it is fantastic.

The way some water buffalo is being harvested today is questionable. By purchasing bison leather from the US, one is supporting small ranchers, who are disappearing in the US due to a stranglehold on the world's meat supply by several huge conglomerates.
