I'm with BigJ on this. To generalize, Japanese repros of whatever cannot be touched, always made with so much care, attention to detail and love, but the moment they begin to reinvent...

I think it's a little unfair to group every Japanese repro brand together.

Freewheelers is one of the most out there that I can think of...

I agree the design of Freewheelers jacket are out there but as said some if not all of their jackets were accurate repros of vintage jackets like Leathertogs, Peter's etc including the Rocketeer style jacket. I doubt they did much reinventing because that's not what their customers want from them. So credits should go to the those who were light years ahead in leather jacket design that even 70 years later, people still think those design are "out there" and to the Japanese who appreciates such "out there" design. LOL

I stand corrected. Guess the A-1 did have a pen pocket. Can't believe that I never noticed that before...perhaps because original pockets usually were so tiny compared to the A2 & G1 style.
Learn something surprisingly new all the time....:D

These obsessed Japanese do tweak the jackets measurements and proportionality to fit their physique. But design? Unlikely.
