I saw the movie this last weekend. After about a hour I was checking the guide looking for something else to watch. If i want to see moral stupidity I can see it at work.

Might have been better if they could have somehow inserted a classic rock soundtrack.

I couldn't tell whether I liked the film or not when I saw it in the cinema as I was too busy trying not to be sick at the terrible camerawork. Within a few minutes both me & him indoors had our heads in our hands; I just wanted it to be over, and my eyes were killing me for a couple of days afterwards. I will probably rent it on DVD and see if it's better. The most unpleasant cinematic experience I've ever had, and I don't expect to be saying that about a Johnny Depp film.;)

I saw Public Enemies a few months ago. Having seen it over a few slices of ordered pizza added to the experience, but the film was pretty good. Better than a lot of what gets made today, I thought. I didn't really like the scenes towards the middle of the film in which the camera was shaking, a la Cloverfield or even... Star Trek XI (2009). I enjoyed watching it, although I have certainly seen better gangster films. I'll even give it extra credit for reinforcing the popularity of the fedora amongst modern teenagers and young adults, somewhat. That was a nice hat Depp was wearing in it too, I wonder if it was something he actually owned, as opposed to just wearing it for the production?

When SA Winstead arrives in Chicago he steps off the train wearing a turn down brim fedora. I have been trying to locate the same style. The closest I have come is the Akubra CEO. I have it and am very happy with it. Does anyone know who may have the plain edge brimmed clone of this hat? Optimo made most of the hats and I think the ones he wore later in the film. BUT, in his first appearance I think maybe this hat was made by another hatter. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

The pointless sex scene drove me absolutely mad. I'm trying to watch this movie with my parents, as they filmed in Columbus and our old gun store was actually in the movie for a brief moment, and then that! It makes watching a movie with your folks very awkward, to say the least!

If you can get past not being historically accurate in the events department, and the pointless sex scene it's a great movie and soundtrack. I watch the dvd quite a bit actually.

Sex scenes... I don't particularly care for those, outside of James Bond movies (and those aren't very revealing). I saw this movie with my siblings and Dad three years ago, and that was an awkward moment.

As for my next haircut (or should this be in the haircut thread?), I think I'll end up getting the same one as last time, a style resembling Johnny Depp's cut in this movie:

Long on the top, shorter going down the sides. I may keep my long sideburns though.

If you do a Google search, you'll see there's lots of queries on how to get a Public Enemies haircut, it seems to be a fairly sought after style.

Depp hit one out of the ball park with Enemies

Hat, suit, overcoat, cars ... even his guns are cool.

Especially his hat, though

I agree. The clothes were great.

I was in a hat shop the other day and the topic of this movie came up. The salesman said to me he remembered Depp wearing really cool sunglasses.

I can't say I can remember anything about them.

Round lens cheaters ... sort of tortouis shell.

Very cool,

I think Depp probably has a lot more style than the original, just MHO, of course.
Nothing against Johnny D!
