Berlin Gubener Hutfabrik "Turf", Weather - Proof, Crown Open 5 1/2, Brim 2 1/2 inches, 55cm probably later 1930s. I have been looking for a B.G.H. hat for a long time. Berlin Gubener Hutfabrik was the largest hat factory (Wool and Fur Felt divisions) in Germany but didn't survive WWII. I think they must have sold mostly non branded hats to distributors, whole sellers and large retail establishments. The mixed color felt on this hat is really extraordinary. Also great form and interesting Bow and Over Welt This is now one of my favorite hats even though I can't wear it. What is interesting is this hat was distributed by Friedrich W. Schneider Köln (still in business today and own Stetson Europe) for Jung Augsburg (also still in business today).

Carl Zeumer Magazin Zum PFAU, Pfau-Hut, size 58cm, 156 grams, probably 1920s. It could be a Fur - Wool blend. It wears very soft + light and is in very good condition. Not sure what company made it for Carl Zeumer Magazin Zum PFAU. There is a paper label on the backside of the sweatband but not worth taking a chance of damaging the sweatband to check.

Wowza Steve! This has been quite the journey. Hard to pick favorites, I'm drawn to the beautiful velours. But those stiff felts... Thanks for the effort you put into this series. I'm into my second cup of coffee/schnapps...

Steve, wonderful posts!

Justin, Thanks! Thank you for your great additions (also for reviving it) to this thread.

Steve -- amazing additions! In think you now "own" that last several pages of this thread.
Bob, Thanks! I have neglected this great thread so had a backlog. :)

Thank you, this made my day. Settled in with some schnapps in my coffee and enjoyed each image with fervor. Gawd, I need a cigarette now...

Mike, Thank you! Most of my older hats are posted on this thread. Unfortunately there are many missing photos that others have posted. Mostly due to the Photobucket curse.

That is really something else. Fantastic! Size 55 is too small even for me; pity...

Never be sorry for posting hats, Steve; we love them as much as you do (but are less adept at finding them). Great looking hats, all of them.
Stefan, Thanks! You have done a fantastic job of finding great European vintage / antique hats. Please keep them coming!

Stefan, It's probably more like 54cm so really tiny. This is the only branded BGH branded hat I have come across. I might have some others but no company mark.

And so I come home after a week of vacation in Tuscany and I find a parade of such sumptuous hats that I will use all morning on Sunday to watch them.
It is certainly an unexpected pleasure to see so many, wonderful hats gathered in a magnificent procession.
I have not inserted, in the quotes, the bowlers that are not my daily bread, but only for a matter of space. They have an indescribable charm! I have let out from selection those in straw because it is not the right season
What to add more? Except that some are to "steal".
Bravo Steve! And my words are still little for your research :)
