Pre 1940s dress hats

Great photo! Its interesting that the children's hats had those very short crowns. The brim length seems to be a pretty standard length for the time.
It is interesting that these are mostly rural kids. The photo is very early 4-H. Most of them would have to travel 40 miles to the nearest large city with a hattery.

1900's Enterprise Brand Clear Nutria Fedora ( GSH & Co)

This one is really cool. Its had a hard life. There is quite a bit of moth damage, but I thought it has great stampings. Its definitely an early deep scooped upbrimmed fedora, but I was unable to find any info in any vintage American Hatter or Clothier and Furnisher publication about the company or the brand.

And finally it belongs here too. I posted this one in the German and Austrian Hutmachers and homburg nation threads earlier. There is one on Mayserwegeners' site that was owned by RLK on the lounge and I was very pleased to find this one. Hückel "standard" in heathered grey, made for A. Breiter Munich. Not exactly a homburg, but a curled brim early dress hat. Size 5 1/2 (58 european), with a 6cm brim and 11cm crown at the pinch. Reeded sweatband (some damage there, with the reed sticking through the reedband in places). Nice clean liner and unstitched double bow (no signs of it ever having been stitched to the hat). Gorgeous soft felt with an overwelt edge that has been worked into a D'Orsay curl. The hat takes on a wonderful swooping curve if you put it on, which doesn't really show in the pictures. I think 1915 to 1925 (the world was still in black and white back then).

Impressive! I would love to see a head shot with the D'Orsay curl. This is my favorite look for this kind of hat. You continue to amaze me!

Steve, Mike, thanks. I'm not very good at selfies but I'll see what I can do about the headshot. It has been posted in the Johann Hückel thread as well (didn't know there was one).

Interesting. That is the stamp that matches the reorder tag number. I only have one old Stetson that doesn't have the LOTXXXX imprint at the inside front of the sweatband, though sometimes is hard to decipher.
