The wibbly-wobbly wavy zipper is the first thing I see in a lot of Thedi jacket photos... I think only the washed jackets, where the leather has shrunk but the zipper (of course) has not. Amazing jackets, but it's a bit off putting. I still want to buy a Thedi jacket, but would specify no wavy zippers.

...or just opt for a buttoned model?

I love the look of zips...

Might get a buttoned jacket one day, though.

Plus, there has to be some way of attaching the zips AFTER washing, though that means washing before construction is finished.

Yes, Thedi makes some oof the most - if not the most evolved - patterns. His understanding of the human body and how it moves is astounding.

Of this I have no doubts and I believe the reason lies in Thedi's roots as a motorcycle gear maker, which in itself has a long and rich history in Europe. You can spot definite influences of Italian and German racing jackets and suits in nearly all of Thedi's designs and that, combined with the actual race track experience, can only place his jackets very high on the actual quality level of the jacket as of whole.

This won't resonate very well here but I am of a strong opinion that regardless of a difference in a price tag, Thedi is a good couple of levels above any Japanese maker.

Maybe not any Japanese maker, as there are a lot we still don't know. I have a jacket on order from an unknown brand here, he is a biker and makes biker jackets. It has been on hiatus until I can go get fitted with the mock up.

Otherwise, I agree with you, I am also of the opinion that he is several levels above the makers we usually discuss here.

Of course, not any; I worded it wrongly and only meant the handful that get mentioned here. Japanese proper racing leathers are awesome as well.

Is it just me or does it seem like Thedi has stepped up his game over the past couple years? Or maybe just better social media/website? There seem to be some really nice jacket styles coming out recently! Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall a few years ago what first got my attention was his A-1/Heron style jacket, but other than that it was mostly cafe racers. Anyways, I am digging some of these newer, more simple/casual jackets with really tasteful details.

I have already posted these elsewhere in TFL, but thought it might also be useful to collate and share them here on the dedicated Thedi thread…..”burgundy” midweight HH, with brown and black detachable mouton collars….one of my very favourite and also most versatile jackets, and incredibly beautifully made….

I really love this style. Seems very versatile. Do you have any pics of it on? The ones on Thedi’s site are the much brighter (and still great) tan and I’m curious about darker colors for it
