A couple hats that fit me from a recent auction lot of seven hats that were all stored in a flattened state in a single tall hat box. They will all need some cleaning and steaming. This one is a house brand (Charter House) made for Juster Brothers in Minneapolis. A really nice $5.00 hat in it's day!

Looks like that may be a HCA tag…. Possibly Knox? I’m under the impression they did some private label work

A five hat stack from Canada finally came out of its box for air today. I’ll be checking these in over the coming days. They all need varying degrees of work. Thank you to @BobHufford for the tip off on this pile.

Beautiful colour...and love what you've done with it! Great looking bash!
Thanks, Bird. Nice new Borsa! And don’t worry bout no holes. These days holes make em worth more and in style!

Think I’ve found that powder blue Bantam a new home, too. A friend/girl that I grew up with says she wants it and 2 others, including the rare and very sweet Two Tone. She’ll look great in them, and did I not read that it was an actress who wore a fedora first, or made them desirable?

But that’s only if they’re her size. To be determined.

I got this Stetson No. 1 a while back. It was a way-too-small size 7 and the sweatband was toast. I sent it to Robert at Wolfbrae and it came back beautiful and identifying as a Resistol X Wolfbrae in a size 7-1/2 LO. I View attachment 476143

Thanks for your response.
I've always thought "ladies in fedoras" is a hot look. My wife can really smoke a fedora. And that Baby Blue Diamond Creased brim deserves some attention.

I think what might attribute to the difference in sizing between your Bora's and mine could be, yours have a thicker leather sweat and mine the thin grosgrain.

Also the difference in malleability could be...just an uneducated guess would be...If yours have liners and leather sweats, I bet yours are the #37 Alessandria standard fur while mine is the step lower #49 Marengo. Maybe the step up in fur is floppier, while mine is a bit more malleable.
Also I believe mine's original shape was open crown, at least that's how I got it...so it doesn't pull back to a previously ironed in crease.

Those are my guesses...but they say "ignorance is bliss" and I've always been pretty much a happy fellow. Lol.
Best....

Amiata 1.jpg
Last month of the year and last purchases of opportunities that are difficult to find during the year
Amiata 2a.jpg
Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore late 1940s early 1950s, size 6 1/2 or 60 centimeters and 7 1/2 in the US.
Amiata interno.jpg
Fit and finish are from that era, I've compared it to a couple of others and there are tons of similarities
Amiata etichetta carta.jpg
The color of the felt is "Amiata", one of the most common of the grays sold by Borsalino, but in those years the dyer must have thought of "his" color and put this rather unusual combination of gray and violet on the felt, but we all know at Borsalino the colors often change or perhaps it is better to say they changed
Amiata 4.jpg
The measurements of this Borsalino are as follows: the brims edged in the same color as the ribbon are 7 cm, the ribbon is 3 cm high with a particular bow and the crown when fully open is 14 cm.
Amiata 5a.jpg
Here and there you can see the signs of the time and of the notable use of the hat.
Amiata 3a.jpg

A peculiarity rarely found on a Borsalino, it is wide for me, although it is often the other way around

Biltmore Hank-a-Chif-Felt Zephyr
Soft lightweight brown felt
Approx 4 5/8 to 3 7/8 rakish crown (as shaped)
5/8 grosgrain mid-ribbon
2 1/2 brim with Raw edge

Simply because it needed the least work in cleaning up… The first of five hats that came to me from Canada is this Biltmore Hank-A-Chif Zephyr. One might think 5 hats from Canada, might mostly be heavier weight winter hats. But it appears this is the summer collection. This Zephyr is a super lightweight weight and very easily shaped felt. Similar, I would say, to a Dobbs Cross Country or the like. I love the color and profile of this hat… though I do expect it might elicit the obligatory “Hey Indy” comments. Here it appears after just a quick brushing and hand shape.

There are Biltmores and then there are BILTMORES: this is the latter! Great find, Joe.
