Yes, it's a ladie's hat. But, this Lack Of Color branded toquilla straw has a nice shade to it and plenty of brim to work with if I want to try to convert it. Backwoven Edge a big plus!




Weighs 90g as is. I bet it could make a decent Western.

The brim is 2 3/8",and the crown goes from 3 3/4" in back to about 4 1/2" up front. 123g. Tagged 7 1/8 but almost fits my 7 1/4 head without a, stretch. It won't take much to make it fit perfect.
Screams late 50's to me.
I am not 100 percent sure, but I suspect it may be a Steven's made hat because of the "The Royalist" stamp. Any thoughts on this are welcome.

Nice haul!! Especially that Royalist. I'd say you're spot on calling it 50s. What a great crown shape...a pork pie with a killer profile. Congrats on that!

A new-to-me palm braid hat, unsure of the decade but the sweatband stamp doesn’t look very modern. It’s very similar to the ones in the 1930s photos below, just with an Open Road-style crown:

Thanks, yes it’s very similar to that one, just the crown is slightly lower and it’s less of a minnick crease. Despite looking like shingle it’s pretty soft and comfortable.

My pooch is actually a toy poodle, adopted on Christmas Day to boot.

Are cheap-o modern hats allowed?

I saw the Man In Black's panama hat on Westworld, and got a bee in my bonnet (see what I did there?) to find something simliar , but without spending a fortune.

Found lots of "braid" hats, which really don't look the same. Finally hit up ebay, and found this hat by Epoch (which I assume is some cheap (?) chinese made thing, probably a subsidiary of some big conglomerate?) A bonus: it has a matte finish, which I prefer to glossy.

Anyway... it arrived today. Brim was flat as a pancake, so I steamed it up and went to work. 10 minutes later, here's the end result... I'm quite pleased with the look --- especially the appearance of the weave, not bad at all.

Hope I don't get kicked out of the cool kid's club, wearing a cheap hat!

Second photo is from ebay, showing the "before steam" flat brim. Last photo os the hat that Ed Harris wears in the show.

Somehow, I don’t think crowds will gather and point their fingers while chanting “Cheap hat, cheap hat!” when you wear it in public.

Neither will mothers hide their small children until you can no longer be seen. (or if they do, it won’t be because of your hat)

It looks good on you.
