A very cool Borsalino homburg in size 7 1/8. More in the Borsalino Brotherhood thread:

Here’s an odd one. It’s an inexpensive hat but the size hooked me. Alfonso D’Este sold by Worth & Worth. Size is 62cm or 7 3/4 US. It’s a rabbit fur felt hat with a cloth sweatband. The open crown is a modest 5 1/4” while the brim is a generous 2 3/4” wide with a raw edge. The felt has hardly any stiffeners , but it wants some steam to hold its shape. This one is off to eBay unless someone here wants it. The dark blue color is the best thing about this hat.

Another new to me hat from Worth & Worth. It’s also in blue rabbit felt, but it’s a slightly lighter shade of blue. It has a suede leather sweatband. The open crown is 5 5/8” (or just slightly under) and the raw edge brim is 2 5/8” wide. It presents better partially because I took some effort at home with my steamer to shape it up.

Nice. I think he gets a pretty penny for his creations. Getting one at a good price is probably worth it.

J. C. Penny Co. Marathon:

Olive green with a 5 1/2” open crown and 2 3/4” wide brim with wide whippet style binding. Another far from mint hat in US size 7. No label hiding behind the sweatband. The felt is very soft and borderline limp. Sometime in its life it acquired a replacement liner.

Nice old Marathon. Whoever changed the liner made a nice choice.

Impressive haul you've got there, Brent. I like the look of the Mallory and the Borsalino best, but the colour on those Worth and Worth hats is great.

Current Worth & Worth hats are overpriced fashion items and they aren’t made as well as they should be for their high prices. I do like the blue though.

Some recent finds. First one.
Willoughby Baku hat. Size 55 (I think) with the brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center crease. I bought it as a curiosity more than anything else, because only a few days before I stated in a post about a Morreton hat that baku hats were extremely rare in Europe (they are). Lo and behold this one pops up right away. The quality of Willoughby is evident and it weighs only 50 grams. It photographs well, but because of its size looks like an oddly tiny hat on me.

Another recent find.
Borsalino homburg in rutenio colour. Size 56 with the brim at 5cm and the crown at 11 cm at the center dent. The usual quality is all there, but the proportions of this sixties hat are somewhat smaller than the earlier Gulaela models. I have so many hats in this colour scheme already, but this one was cheap, so...

Last one.
Mossant Castor Hudson in grey made for Lalieu of Lille. Size 57 with the raw edge brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Castor Hudson was Mossants beaver fur quality. They did make nutria hats as well, but I've never found one of those.
This one is dated, but the date is hard to make out. Could either be 1932 or 1952. This is not a 1932 hat, so I'm going with 1952.

Well, several years after adding a Fed IV in Moonstone to my collection, I had to add a Carbon Grey. I received it from Hats Direct just this past week. With each open crown hat, I'm getting more and more comfortable with bashing my own crown. Nothing beats molding the quality felt and creating your own "sculpture". Another fantastic purchase from the folks at the Hattery Katoomba.
