Stetson Royal Custom-V in 7 1/8. The crown is 5 1/2” open and the brim is 2 1/2 and finished with an overwelt with three rows of stitching. The felt is a wonderful heather and is easily shaped dry. Nothing hiding behind the sweatband and the liner is obviously not original.

That's a beautiful heather felt and the ribbon goes very well with it. Very nice!

1930s Mallory - Black/Charcoal Heather Melusine
4 1/2 crown as shape (approx 5 1/2 open)
2 inch black grosgrain ribbon
2 1/4 brim underwelt brim
2 inch black sweatband

So here is a hat that several of you kindly pointed me in the direction of probably over a year ago… including Jonathan @TheOldFashioned, Jim @Frunobulax and @Randall Renshaw and probably a few others. It remained on my watch list for more than a year as the seller slowly lowered his price and for one reason or another I never made the purchase. My wife finally pulled the trigger on it as a birthday present. For $23.99 with shipping included… it arrived in a plastic envelope! FLAT as a pancake! I was able to get it into a reasonable shape by hand yesterday and spent some time steaming it up today. Not bad! I must say! The hat arrived smelling of cigarettes, which dissipated after setting in the sun.. but while steaming it released a very sweet smell of something like cherry tobacco.

So I’m told this Mallory Established 1823 tombstone logo tends to point to mid 20s to 30s. The United Hatters, Cap And Millinery Union Workers tag indicates 1934 or later…. So I’m gonna guess mid 1930s. Unusual for the era black sweatband at about two inches. The super soft long hair felt is a black/charcoal heather. It is extremely soft and malleable.. but steam really helped to keep a shape. The brim comes in at 2 1/4 with a tight almost blind stitched underwelt. Can’t decide if I like it better brim up or down.. luckily I don’t have to choose. Thanks the everyone who tried to steer me toward this beauty.

Excellent save, Joe. I can speak from experience it doesn't always work out that way unfortunately. Felt is resilient though, straw: not so much.

Morreton baku. Let's face it: this is a wreck. It had only some slight damage before it was crammed in too small a box for shipping. Brim at 7 cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Weighs 50 grams. This is actually the first baku straw from Europe I've ever seen, which makes it more heartbreaking that the seller was a moron to ship it like she did. Sigh.

Adam Executive in grey. I think the colour is called "Chelsea" (could be the model name though). Felted edge brim, called "hand sealed edge" by Adam at 7cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Pliant-eze sweatband, whatever that means. Sold to me as a size 57, but it is a size 59. The confusion is understandable though as it also has a 7 1/8 label inside. Missing its liner unfortunately.

There should be a law against it, Stefan. It's a crime against a hat if ever there was one.

Penney’s Marathon - Stratoliner/OR Clone

Light Blue Grey Felt - 7 1/8
4 1/2 crown as shaped
3/8 thin ribbon
2 1/2 brim with 3/16 binding

I feel like I was just here with a grey 1960s Penney’s Marathon… but you just don’t turn these down when offered for $25. This one a TAR OR/Strat clone. The blue/grey felt feels on the lighter side and the 2 1/2 brim would lean more toward Strat-o-like. Of course… as seems to be the theme lately.. this one arrived in a box that was too small. No worries here as it shaped up nicely. A few moth nibbles for character on the right/front side of the brim. I imagine at some point this hat had a liner… but is certainly fine without. May try to buff our some of the minor yellow staining in the felt. A great candidate to add to the working/yard work stable… but certainly fine enough to wear out as well.

Hello guys. Sadly I found this forum too late. Can't find any advices in time.
I have one question for you, I will be glad if someone answer honestly. I blindly bought a wide brim hat recently and I think it not fits me, like its too big for my head and my figure.
  • 9 cm / 3.5” brim - brixton field hat
