Hales and Hunter Co
(By Beaver Brand Hats... I believe)

Open Road Clone - Silverbelly
5 inch crown
2 3/4 brim with 3/16 bound edge
1/4 Inch 2-ply silver grosgrain ribbon

The sun finally peeked out long enough this evening to get some shots of this new arrival. This just about minty Hales and Hunter Co White Fur Open Road clone has actually been sitting here for a bit awaiting its debut but I believe this one came in off a tip from @BobHufford Pretty sure based on the box and the Mirakal Process Dupont Quillion water proofing tag this one was manufactured by Beaver Hats. We shall see where it fits among my OR/Strat clones.

And just as quickly as the sun peeked out.. the rain returned.

I like it, I like it alot! But I do prefer larger ribbons, I think it looks really good. A nice brown colour would work well also, I've got a BGCD coming. May do something similar myself.

Edit: Just went through my ribbon box and wonder how this colour would look on the Bluegrass....interesting

Funny how just commenting on deadlyhandsome's new BG Campdraft and mine turns up only minutes later...Happy days, as I love the colour, no idea why I was scared of it for so long..... Now to getting onto that larger ribbon.....

Double Edit: Thoughts folks, BGCD with Brown Ribbon? Maybe I should start a poll j/k.

I like it very much. The color combo is great and the Camp Draft can take a wide ribbon with ease with its crown height.

So nice its posted twice. I'm one of those who wouldn't call it an OR clone, though. Both the ribbon and the bow are different. Not to take away from the beauty of the hat, though. It's a great piece.

Looks great, that came quickly. Didn't seem like it was only last week we were looking at them. BTW lol, I fully blame you for me buying a Campdraft in BG hahaha.

Nice looking lid mate!
Thank you sir. It took just under two weeks for it to arrive. I like what you did with your CD, and I'm glad to have been the motivation for you to get one. There tends to be a lot of that that goes on around here. BG is a nice color, and any reservations I had about how it looks on me are gone. This hat will definitely get a lot of head time.

Borsalino Caesar Qualtia Speciale - Coffin Hat

Borsalino Caesar Qualtia Speciale - Coffin Hat
Monlov with Bulgaro ribbon
4 inch crown as shaped
1 1/2 dark brown (Bulgaro) grosgrain ribbon
1 7/8 brim with double stitched overwelt

A Borsalino coffin hat at a price I could not pass up. This one a short brim Caesar Qualtia Speciale. The felt is a sort of grayish Milk chocolate brown called Monlov which I have seen described as taupe. Depending on light it shifts between greys and browns. 1 1/2 ribbon Bulgaro Chocolate brown ribbon. The manufacturing label points to late 1960s to mid 1970s. From the looks of the original photos of this hat it was going to need a lot of steam to get it into shape. But a few minutes of working the felt by hand I managed to whip it into a reasonable shape. A bit of steam would smooth out some of the wonky spots for sure. This one has found its way home.
