I love the hat, and I particularly like how you have the brim shaped.

Thank you sir. Funny about that brim. It actually came that way. I tried to flatten it, but just couldn't get it to. So I tried to at least get all the sides somewhat even &/or level. For the most part, the crown is how it came too. I tried steam but had no luck, so used some bottled water and wet it, then placed the crown top down on a wooden head I have, (not mine!) to get some of the old creases out. Then reshaped by hand. I think I got it looking a bit better, and at least, took out some of the older crease lines. Past that, I took one of the hat sponges to it, and a bit of talcum powder, then brushed it.

Recently aquired an A.Brieiter Munchen during my recent trip to Germany. While visiting the most beautiful city of Bad Aibling in Bavaria for my cancer treatments, I happened upon this little second hand shop selling German clothing. They had only 1 hat in the store and it had my name on it. Fit perfect, feather and birds foot at no extra charge. A whopping Eur 30 and it was mine. ;)

Found a French hat, not my size. Fléchet Super Golf. Size 60 with the bound brim at 6,5cm and crown 10,5cm at the center dent. Colour is called Nemrod, judging by the label. Lightweight felt at 110 grams with a lovely soft hand to it. Made for Lebreton, Rennes.

Nice hat! You should pu it in the German & Austrian Hutmachers thread too.

I hope the treatments went well for you.

Just received this one. From the auction photos, I thought this was a Cross Plains, with 3" brim. I was wrong, everything about the dimensions say San Antonio to me.
I researched the original owner, Jack Scott.
Jack was born Sept.4, 1909. He attended school in Cross Plains Texas, until he went to West Texas Military Academy, in San Antonio. He graduated in 1930, and by age 20, was editor of the Cross Plains Review newspaper. By 1940 he owned the entire business. He served in the U.S. Army, 1944 mostly in the Philippines. He was director of the West Texas Press Association, and received 27 statewide awards for his column "Hometowner". He was director of the Citizens State Bank and was involved in oil exploration, and a small cattle operation. He was mayor of Cross Plains four times. He died Jan. 5, 2003.
I am very happy to be the caretaker of his hat, he sounds like an exceptional gentleman. The felt on this hat is very nice!

Looks like a great hat DD. Pretty cool that you could find all that info on the former owner. Good job.

Wow. I like this hat... a lot. Tall crown, soft telescoping bash with a mild egg shape, wide ribbon, brim is not too stingy, subtle rake. Me? I'd probably wear it with the brim up.
