Penney's Marathon. 2.5" brim, 4.5" to the pinch, bound edge and a sort of stitched ribbon.

The felt is stiffer than the brown Marathon I have, despite having "Custom Quality" on the sweat, and also lacks a wind trolley which the brown one has but was quite a good price on the auction site. A little tight, but will hopefully adjust.

I'm a broken record today, but another save by Mike Miller was this early unknown manufacturer Derby. The stitching of the sweat had rotted away, so a new sweat and liner makes this Dunstatter (the store name) Derby a daily driver. Fits like a custom, better than all my other derby collection. The finish and curl on this one was special enough to put some effort into saving. It will get a lot of head time.

The local Goodwill hasn't been producing much this Halloween season, but the local vintage store was putting out the autumn/winter collection today and they had this,

Finally a Silverbelly OR.

It was being fussy about the crease so now it's sitting on my head with a Cattleman, no photos.

Somewhat the worse for moth visitations, but the price was right and no shipping.

Also got this Sovereign as a possible cool weather biking companion

It should be aerodynamically favorable.

On the other end I got these Red Wing Iron Rangers, but that is a subject for a different forum I suppose.

Now I'm off to buy some boot laces. And possibly stop back at the store to look at a few things I didn't pull the trigger on.

I have to start visiting thrift shops!

I bought this squished and dusty Gun Club on Monday and it arrived today. I don't know Stetsons but this looks like a modern/HatCo Dune in acorn that's just been a bit bleached by the sun maybe?

The felt is a bit weathered but no holes and it fits great, so I brushed it and steamed it to an open crown.

And then I steamed it again and went with the teardrop and pinch front, which is the only bash I seem to be capable of and the one this hat probably remembers anyway.

Nice save, it looks great now. I don't think it is all that new, are there any maufacture tags under the sweat? The metric/US size tag is a clue to age. Maybe 1970s?

That pic makes me think of some of the hats in the Stetson Staple Styles catalog that carouselvic posted recently. It's going to be a monster!
True. Overland...

Might take years for the Portuguese rabbit population to recover from the manufacture of that hat body!:)
I left 6 hat bodies in the store so... it not my fault if that happened.

Can't wait to see the finished product.
Me too!

Here's my find from my trip to the Episode store in Copenhagen. I didn't even come close to Stefan's 9 in Amsterdam, but I'm still pleased with it [emoji5]. A Resistol, made under license in Germany, grey fedora. I cleaned it up and gave it a steaming. Turned out okay.

I particularly like the bow on the sweatband and the wide ribbon. It's nearly 5cm. It also has a Don Draper/Mad Men look to it, which I like.

No idea of age. 60's perhaps?

Looks like a nice one, Steve. A bit short brimmed for my taste but good you have found one. Never seen a Resistol hat before (made under license or original) in my searches for hats so quite rare I think. Judging by form only I agree that it's probably sixties. Not so many hats in your size I gather, but how was the collection on offer in the shop there?

Thanks Steffan. The brim is actually quite normal size. I think it's the angle I took the photo at that makes it look "stingy".

They had a good selection of hats. Most of the German brands, no Borsalinos. It was therefore frustrating they didn't have my size.

I was pleased to find this one though. I'm not sure if you can really call it a real Resistol as it's made in Germany. I believe I've read somewhere that Wegener had the license.
