Brüder Böhm, 58cm Point 5 1/2, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 1/4 inches probably 1930s. Fantastic Hot Wet Brushed Black Velour - Soleil that is very pliable and absorbs all light. The company paper label with model, form and color information is missing. I would like to thank Celia for letting me know about this hat which she found on French Ebay. This is a rare find.

Gorgeous! I am so glad it found its way to you Steve - although I'm still a bit disappointed it wasn't my size of course ;)

Wow, that hot wet brushed look is fantastic. You and @Celia are becoming quite the Dynamic Duo!
Thanks, I'll be back to being dynamic when I stop being ill and can wear hats again and look at a screen for more than 5 minutes without having a headache.

In any case, be well, Celia. Even a debilitated Celia is better than none at all.

Celia, Thanks again for the tip! There were wads of paper behind the sweatband. I will try to remember to take photos of all of it.

One of your favorites? Certainly one of mine.
It seems it is a favourite. Really nice felt and I love the light effects it makes. My mother saw it and said I had my hat wet on the back because it was much darker.

What a great hat, Joao and I agree with what HJ said. Certainly reminds me of one I've seen before.
It resembles that hat, yes.

I've waited all week to have a chance to post this wonderful Homburg I received from Daniele. It is a Barbisio Rat-Gondin (Nutria) grey. This nutria is wonderful felt. Very smooth and clay like. Daniele sent it with the beginnings of a diamond bash and I have been playing with it all week. Finally got the show open at the theater last night, so my life is quasi normal again. Performances on the weekends and time to do hat stuff during the week.

The seam cover of the sweat and bow have some interesting markings both hand written. I know that dating Italian hats can be challenging, but could the "61" or "89" be clues?

Well, The Hat Guys in Oakland is doing their going out of business sale. With Hats on Fillmore closing a few weeks ago too, I don't know of any high end mens hat shops around. Goorin doesn't count.

Anywho, I snagged an inexpensive 'Genuine Panama' (made in Argentina[?]) Homburg. The weave is not the tightest, but it was only $50. This is actually going to work quite well for my brother's wedding in Arizona next month.

The second thing I grabbed was a Harris tweed cap from Wigens. A little bit more seasonally appropriate.

Is this the Real Nutria Fur formerly known as Harv's? If so, congratulations are in order! This would be your first oldie in a sea of more modern western hats, right? I hope you'll share your impressions and comparisons.
Alan, it is that hat and you are right, the first really oldie for me.
Comparing this one to moderns... the craftsmanship that produced this hat is long lost. I love it. Been wearing it since I took it out of the box.

BTW anyone knows were Harv is or what happened to him? He doesn't reply to PMs and his last post was February, 2.
