Very nice find Michael... from the 1950s. Fechheimer Bros. is still in business today. They might enjoy seeing your photos and providing additional information.

Thanks for the info Alan. I was kind of guessing it was from the 50s. Basing that mostly on the size tag. The band I'm less sure about because I think the rangers bought those themselves so I don't know if this one is original to the hat. I did see that Fechheimer Bros was still in business and now part of Warren Buffett's sizeable stable. I also noticed that they have been in business somewhat longer than Stetson. Do I remember you posting a photo of yourself in a similar hat and full ranger uniform some time back? Do you know when Stetson quit offering Nutria Quality?

The campaign hat I own is this Stetson No.1 Quality from the 1930s. I am not sure of the earliest appearance of the Nutria Quality mark in your hat but it is most often seen in the post WWII era. There is a thread devoted to it here. In the first few decades of the 20th century, Stetson sold many quality/price levels of Nutria fur hats - 1X, Real Nutria Fur, Real Nutria Quality, Clear Nutria... after the war, the Beaver Qualities returned in a bigger way and Real Nutria seems to have been the main nutria offering.
