Thx Bond and David. What swoop do you mean David? This one wants to curl on the sides a bit but gets tamed in its box that has a collar/ledge around the center to keep it flat. Indeed, the front wants to stay up, and I am having to snap it to keep it snapped, but it is learning.

I dabbed some Bicks on the sweat and that made it conform even better so that it is very comfortable as I sit here....I'm glad it fits, the last high-bucker I bought (Butch Dorer) is still loose after steaming and stuffing.

Ray, I imagine a hat like that has a certain period wherein you and it need to come to terms, not unlike getting acquainted with a new high-performance automobile, or, in your case, motorcycle.

Enjoy the break-in period, you lucky son-of-a-gun.

Was dirty and somewhat crumpled-but every bit as green as the ebay photos. More when light is available.

Ray - like the brim on Roberts hat, right above this post. I found the S100 wanted to stay either flipped up a bit or just flat, I could not get a nice swoopy snapped down at front, fading to slightly cupped up sides that I was after. Of course, that probably isn't what was intended by the designers in the first place!

Nice (and very green!) Cavanagh Robert!

Alongé & Cie

Evening Gents,
This afternoon I found an antique shop in town that I'd never been to and found this dark gray Alongé & Cie Fedora. It was a steal at $16! Miraculously, it was also a perfect fit for me. It appears to be in excellent/Very Good condition. The felt is very soft, (I'm guessing a rabbit blend) and unblemished with zero stains. The near perfect liner and sweatband leave me to believe that it has been worn by approximately no one. I feel like I've struck gold and hit oil! The brim is 2 1/4 inch with a beautiful overwelt and the ribbon is 1 3/4 inch.

I have never heard of Alongé & Cie. I found one thread on the lounge that mentioned it here: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/show...-and-makers.&highlight=Along%E9+%26amp%3B+Cie
so it appears to be European or French in origin.
Does anyone else have any info on Alongé & Cie?

There are a few around the lounge... if I remember correctly, the thinking is that it was an American manufactured brand with a French inflection.

Wide brim Borso vintage 40-50s. I added the vintage hook on ribbon to bring down the "bigness" of the hat.Original crown ribbon was made of felt and about 3/8". Felt is very nice quality that I have not seen before, a nice light wt. but thicker than the usual summer wt felts. Brim is 2 3/4".
Originally sold at Pantke Harpke Milwaukee.
