Here's the only label behind the sweatband of my OR. And the size tag is a strange colour - silver with a slight gold tint.

Thank you very much sir and its an old disney twenty oxford my grandpa had then passed down to my dad. My dad left it in the closet until he noticed I had an interest in everything vintage including hats, so he gave it to me since he didn't wear those kinds of hat. He told me that his pa would always tell him to never forget his hat haha. So now im wearing it and thinking about getting it refurbished by the geat art fawcett as a rememberence to my grandpa sam.

For what it is worth, I have a Canadian Stetson with the same sizing tag behind the sweatband. Maybe they used that tag in the UK too. You should start a new thread on the hat and I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable collectors could give you some more information. Great hat you have.

Thanks for the info on the OR Landman, perhaps I'll post the pictures in the OR thread...
Today I went over to Stoke Newington to visit The Hat Centre - it's a great place to visit, wonderful stock and the proprietor, Ari, is knowledgable and friendly. I came away with this delicious melusine fedora, and this high crowned optimo (nearly 6" high) that Ari had stuck away, I suspect for years waiting for the right customer.

A couple of nice 'barn finds'.......

.........quite literally!

Things had been a little slow in the Acquisitions Dept recently but.........

A fellow in a nearby town had some hats advertised on-line locally, so I went to see them a couple of days ago. There were 10 hats stacked on a work bench in an old corrugated steel barn.

Three were pretty worthless, cheap, dirty campaign hats. A black Stetson of undetermined pedigree in similar condition and missing it's sweatband. An OK nice western Resistol "XdoubleX" in dark green - (which I've since Fedorised).

A new looking brown 6 1/4" tall open crown American Hat Co. Houston, (but it's only a size 7)

A pretty good Stetson Open Road 3X, which I Fedorised and immediately sold to a friend, who'd been looking for one, and a brown 'all wool' Pendleton which looks as though a white kitten has been living in it!

Now.........here are the other 2!

A Mallory Fifteen sized 7 1/8 but fits my 7 3/8 head PERFECTLY! retailed by Warnock's Hat Works of Pharr, TX

A Resistol XXXXX Beaver Self Conforming size 7 3/8, no retailer marked.

Couple new hats from ebay arrived today.

A Dobbs that fits like a dream. Some moth damage that I'm looking to try and fluff out.

Also, a Stetson Royal, in a beautiful chocolate brown. Had to stretch it into an oval which was a little scary, but I think it turned out wonderful.

My first black hat! And my last hat purchase---ever!!! ( or so I told my wife) ;). Akubra Deluxe Fed IV. This is the first hat shipped from Australia where the box was completely crushed, like they set a grand piano on top of it or something. The hat was pretty crumpled. Nothing a little steam couldn't fix though.
