I'm new to the website, and the sun finally came out enough for me to get some decent pictures of my two Stetson fedoras. I've been interested in 1920's-50's apparel for a very long time, but I've only recently begun hunting around for vintage clothing/accessories. I found these two fedoras on eBay, and I have been breaking them in as much as dress occasions allow me. One is a 2" brim Royal Stetson and the other a 2.25" brim Stetson Special. I hope to fill out a nice vintage wardrobe, or at least vintage-looking, in the near future. There are a lot of different brand hats that I'd love to have, but my features seem to require the lower-crown Stetsons; Dobbs, Knox, and Cavanagh fedoras seem to have too high a crown :( Oh well, at least vintage Stetsons appear to work well.

Very nice indeed. I know how you feel about the Stetson profile. Re creasing will be a full time diversion before too long. I've found Knox, Dobbs and a few others that I can coax into the shape I want so don't despair or limit yourself.

That brim is a bit narrower than I prefer, but I'm with Mario - that's a great looking hat! Nice color, etc. It just works! I'd even keep the feather...

Chinaski, that`s a handsome hat! What size is the brim?

Ok,I finally got some pics of me wearing the vintage 60`s stingy brim felt fedora(Resistol brand)that I recently purchased.I apologize for the quality of the pics but my daughter took these with her cellphone.

This hat is my first "real" fedora and also my first vintage hat.I think it was purchased and maybe only tried on for size then stored away in the box...I can`t believe how perfect this Resistol is!

Mr. Paladin,

Thanks for the greeting, I hope to be around a lot more in the future. The shear number of posts and topics is a bit overwhelming to say the least, but I love Fedoras so I am sure to get a grasp on it. The Optimo hat is just fantastic, as Graham has said it is definitely a workhorse type of hat for everyday where. Next stop; Art Fawcett lol.

It's my new trilby. I bought it yesterday. It's nothing fancy, just a simple summer hat. It's surprisingly comfortable.

Yes, the pen is a Sheaffer. It's a 1935 Balance (lever-fill, fine nib), one of the several vintage pens in my collection of vintage pens. When I took the photo, I wanted to toss in a few things to make it look a little interesting, so I took that stuff out of my pocket to add to the shot.

The watch is my Waltham M1895 pocket watch made in 1899. The coin on top of the hat (which is attached to the end of the watch-chain) is a 1977 Australian 50c piece, gold-filled to celebrate Queen Lizzie's silver jubilee.

Came home with 2 new(to me)vintage fedoras from poking around a local thrift store! One is a Resistol medium brim fedora and sitting in the original round box!The other is a Champ stingy brim. They were asking $15.00 for the pair w/ box and since they were my size...The hats are used but not beat.Sweatbands are cracking and liners dropped some stitches. Both hats will look great after being cleaned and brushed.

The only down side....they are both BROWN! So now I have 3 fedoras in brown. Even just as "beater" hats *shudders* to wear and not have to worry.Besides I bet the box alone is worth $8-$10.

Crown of Resistol is dead(?) and really won`t hold a proper crease.Any way to handle that?because the brim width, crown height and profile are sweet!

Pics are uploading to my photobucket now so I`ll post a few later on.

Pilot99 & Annixter--Welcome to the Lounge! You both have started out with some great hats. Don't be strangers.

Thanks for the welcome, and I plan on having a lot of questions. :)
