Got a couple new "greys" in today. Nice clean hats. Fresh out of the mail with only a tad bit of steam and brushing. Always good when a hat comes in and isnt folded flat. No creases, stains or holes. First is a 5x Beaver Brand and the other is a 3x Towncraft. Both have a bound brim edge. Ill do a bit of steaming, ribbon ironing, shaping, and cleaning, and trot them out in public the next couple days. Biggest thing is that they actually fit LOL

Particularly pleased with the Towncraft because the picture showed it as a brown but is actually a nice medium grey

Disney Double Eagle. I'll admit I'm a little disappointed, was expecting a grey hat and got olive (I'm living in an alternate universe from RickP). And although I recently purchased a 7 1/4 that fit just right (I'm a 7 3/8), this 7 1/4 is small all around. But hey, if you never swing, you never get a hit. And, I have to say, this is a terrific hat - in mint condition, must never have been worn. Supple sweat, thick felt/great hand, and a unique sweat band (see below).
Over welt, 1 3/4" brim.

This pic gives an idea of the color, but almost a pure olive without any brown or grey tones.

This factory tag is affixed to the inside of the sweat. There's also a size and style factory tag under the satin lining.

Here's the Unique sweat detail: A tongue/tab at the back instead of the usual sewn together seam. Maybe that'll make it easier to stretch? I'll wait until after straw season is over before I either try and stretch it or toss it back.

Great Box, also in near perfect condition. I'm calling this new old stock.

Ubiquitous Head Shot:

Not sure what to do with the crown - again, it's small all around so if I give it a nice gutter crease it's sitting on my pate. This pic also shows the false color I thought I was buying.

Borchert Berlin W, 58cm, date stamped Dec. 13, 1957. This is a really great Homburg. I am fairly certain it was made by Mayser. The Felt is fantastic but of a heavier weight so looks great without side dents.

I believe the number sequence is actually a date. It's either 2.11.56 or 21.1.56. Either is a good a match for the Sweatband stamped date.

Agnoulita. Grey Wide Brim Western Fedora in Premium Beaver Fur Felt. The Ulysses. I had this hat customized to the point where it is no longer a Ulysses anymore... it's a thin ribbon fedora w a cattlemens crease.

The grey really suits you! You wear it very well. I haven't worked up the gumption to wear grey just yet (although I've got a new Fed IV moonstone waiting for me...)

A nice 'lordshat' from the hatshop Cession in Liege, Belgium. I don't know the brand, because there is no label in it. Castorino tells me it's made from beaver. The quality is high. Seller told me that the hat is from the 50's but i don't know exactly, because i can't find much about 'chapelier Cession' on the internet. But it's a nice found.

Great find!. The hat you are holding is almost certainly made in Italy. Castorino is a wording that I think I have already seen somewhere on Italian hats. Keep in mind that "Castorino" was often used to define Nutria's fur.
Very nice hat

Thank you Daniele. Could it be a Borsalino? Castorino is written/printed in a way Borsalino also does?

I really don't think Marcel, Borsalino is the manufacturer of the hat.
They would certainly have signed it, especially on a foreign market. The writing is golden like those that Borsalino prints on the sweatbands, but no branding is present, however the hat is very beautiful.

Always a sucker for decent looking inexpensive hats, A while back I found a really clean Sage green Stetson Weekender for about $30. A couple weeks ago I found another in brown for $35. In my mind its nice to have a few like these on the wall to give away to aspiring hat wearers that need to get out of ball caps. (im doing my best to put the men of Houston County Texas back into brimmed hats!) Only issue with these was that the both came in a big box full of loose packing peanuts... I need to learn to peek in the box before ripping the flaps open....It will probably take me a week to find all the little pieces after I dumped them in the dining room lol

By the way... One of my hats will be going home with someone today....He traded me the 5 string Banjo in the picture for a nice hat. I played for several years, and always had a soft spot for banjos. Not sure if Ill actually play much, but it sure looks nice as a hat photo background lol I dont know if the fellows aware just how many hats I have on the wall to choose from lol This may take a while. Thinking were going to narrow it down to a few, and move out to the patio to think it over with a good cigar and some Sailor Jerry rum
