A recent find.
Scott&Co in grey. English made. Size 58 with the bound brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Quite a pronounced flange in the back on this one. Late forties to early fifties is my guess.

Walnut Stratoliner with a thin black ribbon. I really like the warm brown color. The walnut color will fit in my hat rotation perfectly. I changed the factory crease to my much preferred diamond crease and I tightened the front pinch to make it my own.

Recent find and not an everyday one either.
Howlison&Co bowler in grey. Sold to me as a size 7 1/8, but fits me perfectly, so a size 7. Brim at 5cm and crown 12,5cm. Two vents on top and a vented liner. Came with the box as well (no pic of that, sorry), which contained a note to take care of the hat after use, so likely a theater hat. Quite lightweight at 118 grams and not very stiff for a bowler. The felt is very dense and thin. Only downside: the sweatband is toast and needs to be replaced.

My latest arrival Borsalino Qualita Extra Superiore Ludoita model in beautiful Crema (cream) color. It is in the styling of Stetson Open Road - thin ribbon matching skinny edge binding. And the felt very high quality super smooth And velvet touch without being a fuzzy type finish. It is not the super thin “blow a crease into it” felt of my Stetson Standard Quality. It is more of a Thicker luxurious dress weight Felt. That being said I put it through some paces with a few different creases and it handled them like a champ. From a basic center dent with soft front pinch... to a modified cattleman’s crease.. to a quick deeper diamond bash with strong side dents. It took it all in stride. It seemed to love the Cowboy shape. So we will see.

This hat had an original selling price of $25 and had some sort of cushion system behind the rear of the sweatband

@steur indicates this one to be of mid 1950’s to early 1960s. Thank you Stefan for that info and apparently forgetting to bid on this one. :);) I see a few of these have been posted on the lounge over the years. But not many

This hat took its sweet time in arrival. Due to a mix up in shipping it made a pit stop in Minnesota (no not to see Eric @Short Balding Guy). And in the mean time I received the Minnow Bucket that was meant to go to MN. It did not fit... so I decided to hold out for this big fish. Thank goodness the owner of the minnow bucket did not use the hat. For that purpose. And now it all right with the world.

It's a stellar hat and a gret find, Joe. It was on my watch list for sure, but it has a found a good home, even if it did take its time to get there (it probably asked "are you sure I'm not meant to go Holland?";)). The Ludoita is a model that's probably exclusive for the American market. We haven't seen many of them; far less than the Ludoela, which does look similar (can't tell you the difference between them to be honest). A hat to cherish.

You'd might have been taken aback a bit if after a month long wait for it's trip to Holland you revealed your handsome minnow bucket.

I wonder if the difference could be felt qualities.... Like one a thinner felt and the other more dress weight?

The Ludoela has a thin ribbon similar to the OR, Joe's hat has the three-cord ribbon. Not certain if any other differences from the pics.

Truth be told I haven't got one of those:)

Could well be the difference is one of weight, because I don't think the difference in ribbon treatment defined the different Borsalino models. We know of the Gorasgu they come in a lot of variants with both different ribbons and different brim edges. Maybe if one were to place them side by side, the difference would be easier to spot. Now, I have a Ludoela.. (hint, hint:D).
