Wow I really like that hat!Our fellow lounger and Italian friend Daniele may have a secret entry to an ancient hoard of GB Borsalino fu Lazzaro hats. And he's willing to share them, bless him. The Italian Postal services seemed to think it was of national cultural importance and took their sweet time to let the package go, but in the end it made it north to me.
GB Borsalino fu Lazzaro lords hat in black. Not exactly a lords hat or a lobbia, but more a soft felt hat with curled overwelt brim edge, but it looks like a lords hat. Brim at a generous 6,5cm and crown at 12cm at the center dent. Unlined but it may have had a liner in the past, because there are no crown patch glue marks to be found. The model is called Paris and the felt is everything you hope a pre-war GB Borsalino to be. Oh, and it has shark gills too. So many thanks to Daniele and his hoard (or his time-machine).
That’s my kinda hat from a rooted Texan now in az"South Texan", an OR clone sold by Lichtenstein & Sons, Corpus Christi, TX. Probably a Resistol. More pics to come tomorrow.

I make good intentions every year, the first of which is to buy hats only of my size, then in front of hats that I really like, I sin and buy them

Size is 5 so a tight 57cm
I console myself with a pair of hats that are coming and others of my size resting here ready for photos.
For those who have these sizes and love Italian hats, it's time to start thinking
In the next days more accurate and dettailed pictures, now the light is vanishing

Wow!!
It looks very nice. Great work! I like the band, it looks like it was for that hat, but I'm sure you'll do something cool[emoji106][emoji106]Got this Borsalino for only $20. It was mangled and dirty and one size too small, but thought it looked interesting and a good project hat for the price. Stefan said he hadn’t seen the model Arpasti before. Looks to be early to mid 50’s. It stretched out nicely after going slowly for a week on the stretcher. Not sure about the band, I may change it out. Very nice felt.

Borsalino Antica Casa - white long hair
The first of two wonderful Borsalino Antica Casa rollable hats that arrived yesterday.
This hat is EXTREMELY soft... and somewhat floppy. Almost blanket like. Seems virtually no stiffener in the felt at all. It will however hold its shape fairly well with the brim up
The texture is super fuzzy and soft.
As others have mentioned these were intended to be removed from their coffin boxes after shipping and blocked into shape. However these hats do have a grosgrain sweatband that leaves them very malleable and certainly can roll and unroll with ease
Here is the manufacturer tag under the sweat
I’m sure purely unintentional.. when this hat was packed and rolled however many years ago... it was folded A bit off axis so if you crease it along that fold you end up with a bit of the “Indy” turn... though far from an Indy hat. [emoji38][emoji1787]
I really love the ribbon on this hat
It has a dashed gradient pattern that sort makes a greenish line towards the middle of the ribbon when viewed at a distance. Kind of hard to capture in photos though
The white long hair felt does have a few spots that are bit tan in color. I imagine this from aging though it could have been that way originally.
Overall I am very happy and somewhat pleasantly surprised with both of these little gems.
Best,
Joe

Man, I need that for the motorcycle !!
Does it hold it’s shape OK after you wake it up ?
This one not as well as the green one. The green one has more of the feel of the kind of hat felt we are used to. If you block and steam them though I imagine they would hold shape just fine. But I guess carrying a block and steam kettle on your bike might defeat the purpose [emoji38]
For me I think it’s fine... but if you want the crisp lines. They would need rework.
Best,
Joe

Thanks Joe. I guess I need more of a ‘Hippy Hat’ to carry around on the bike so when I stop at cool bars along the road I can cover my ‘Helmet Hair’.....
I think it’s a matter of trade off. If you want to roll it up and put in your jacket pocket. Won’t end up with crisp lines of a perfectly steamed and blocked hat. But I think it can still be a cool look
Best,
Joe
