The Nordic countries have a strong tradition of cooperation and trade. This tradition has now been extended to hats.

I swopped this Attaboy with Panos in Norway.

The crown is 10cm to the crease and the brim is 5cm. I particularly like the navy blue colour. I believe it's a wool / felt mix. It doesn't feel all wool to me at least.

It's another Manchester lid for my Manchester hat collection.

Thanks Panos

Super Barbisio Extra lusso in a size 59 (USA 7 3/8; UK 7 1/4)
ienwac.jpg

The hat arrived in nice conditions, but I want it perfect so it was carefully restore in Netherland by Penumbra hats
It is a hat that worth a restoration
2ef6wzr.jpg

The color felt is "Libia" and finish, short fur, is "Taupé"
5uelqo.jpg

Edged brim at 5,5cm and crown at 11 cm at the center dent with a contrasting ribbon
2mo8tpj.jpg

I think it's early sixties hat, just based on the liner that was the same in the fifties. I have some interesting information from the seller
20tp4xk.jpg

Lining is really elegant and it was one of the top of its game
111r137.jpg

The felt has a "peachy" touch and takes any shape you want with no effort at all
2j4tzfb.jpg

Expendable with a good offer;)

Daniele, Super! The bow treatment gives it an earlier era look. Also great felt finish and color combos.

Thanks Steve. The Super Barbisio is a little puzzle for me. The seller said it was, with some Borsalino I bought in the lot, purchased by her father some times ago, but then she said it was from the grandaddy. From the bow and the lining it seems more old than the sixties and it is more similar to other Barbisio I have more ancient. I will give it a more accurate inspection tomorrow, along with the Borsalino.

A nice blue colour, Steve. There are some Attaboys in circulation between the lounge members. They shape very well for wool felt hats (or part wool felt anyway). The Denton and Stockport hatters knew their stuff.

Again: wonderful hat, Daniele. I am biased though: I'm a fan of their hats.

I bought it because of its historic interest. It's a velvety felt, Portuguese Soares Silva & Duartes hat. They were one of the 6 Portuguese hat companies that joined forces in 1969 to create the FEPSA hat co. due to the decline in the hat buying market.

This one must be pre that date. Probably 1950s I'd say.

It was imported to and sold in a hat shop in Denmark's 2nd largest town. I particularly like the size label in 4 sizes. USA, English, French, and general European.

J. Hückel ´s Söhne "Alpha" "Seal Velour", French Point Size 5, Brim 2 1/4 inches, Crown Open 6 inches possibly mid 1930s. The greenish gray "Alpha" "Seal Velour" is fantastic and easily dry creases. Really like the contrasting blue Zig-Zag stitching on the silk liner. (Clicking on photos might improve resolution.)

So it took me some time but that's the second part of this scandinavian exchange :) Steve was so kind to send me his 1959 mayser for my attaboy. I changed a bit the crown to a center crease to give it some height and here we go
