Pretty dirty and misshapen so into the naphtha bath it went. It came out somewhat better.

There is some ghosting of the old crease and the brim is still a bit wonky (and my long oval head makes the sides curl). For a $30 hat I’m pretty happy with it.

Do I have permission to use that?

Way to go Bob. A vintage black OR is the stuff!
Glad that one fits you. Cleaned up very nice.
I’m still looking for one, like most.

Ha, ha, ha ... it’s more plausible than “it followed me home”. Thanks H/R.

Bought a beater 3X OR today as well for a good price - Going to try my hand at cleaning it up and restoring it the best I can. I think it's late 50's or early 60's? but from the reading it seems those long oval keyhole size tags lasted a bit longer than the standard sizes. I'm hoping I can make it into a daily wearer.

@BobHufford You did such a great job on your black OR - If you or any other lounge members have some tips, links or info I can read up on about cleaning and restoring that would be most appreciated.

I would just brush the heck out of it and maybe go to the sponge after that. I have gotten pretty good results with those simple steps.

This was a Stetson model that I hadn't heard of before. "Sandhiller" - early 1950s.

I'll be, it was named after the Nebraska Sandhills. I love that hat, and I can't wait to see the new owner wearing it. :)

The Nordic countries have a strong tradition of cooperation and trade. This tradition has now been extended to hats.

I swopped this Attaboy with Panos in Norway.

The crown is 10cm to the crease and the brim is 5cm. I particularly like the navy blue colour. I believe it's a wool / felt mix. It doesn't feel all wool to me at least.

It's another Manchester lid for my Manchester hat collection.

Thanks Panos
