This is another save. I’ve been aware of Panizza but this is the first to cross my path. It was sold as midnight blue and tomorrow in the sun I’ll see it that’s true, but for now it sure looks black to me. Size 7 1/4 (58) and the brim is 2 3/4” wide.

The felt isn’t quite velour but it has more texture than most antelope/suede finished hats.

Thin, soft, dress-weight felt that is oh so easy to shape. I wish it was my size.

This was a rescue hat and will be added to the classifieds as soon as I can get some natural light photos that capture the true color.

Very nice! And just my size too.... Need the Canadian Dollar to catch up to the American Dollar so I can compete in the vintage market.

Thanks, I do appreciate that. I may attempt an offer, after I find out what my wife feels we need to buy tomorrow to make it through the holidays. She is 9 months pregnant and I'm trying to keep her happy ;)

Babies are EXPENSIVE! I’d use the money to do something nice for my wife; hats will always keep coming up. Merry Christmas.

Oh I know it, this is our second. So far most of my funds have gone to my wife, daughter and future daughter. They always come first. I have been mostly window shopping for hats the last few months, but if something good comes along, that won't interfere with my ladies, I might give it a go. But until then, a fella can dream. Thanks and Merry Christmas

This is my gift of Saint Lucia for myself
2lucutc.jpg

It arrived with such an advance day so the tradition was respected
2rpte6w.jpg

Borsalino Qualità Extra Extra Superiore, size 6 or 59 centimeters or 7 3/8 USA
zx1pwk.jpg

The color is "Cafro" and the "Driasti" type
imm2bs.jpg

The felt is dark brown finished in velvet
29zs9j5.jpg

It arrived with a beautiful Borsalino box and was certainly bought in London in the early seventies
4fx1uf.jpg

The proportions are as follows: the crown is 12 cm high, the raw brim is 6.5 cm. and the ribbone is 2.5 cm tall
1035wld.jpg

The interior is in excellent condition and someone has removed the yellow oilskin protection that covered the internal brand
szzqcm.jpg

Another enigma in the complicated events of Borsalino: no name of the seller is on the sweatban, only "Tipo esportazione" (export type)
ixseo4.jpg

The brand is the same on millions hats
2ic02gm.jpg

For the features, materials, finishes and label in paper make this Borsalino a serious candidate to belong to the 50s

Original Mayser Milz & Cie. "Carlton, Sämisch Extra" 62cm probably mid 1950s. The light green felt has a Chamois finish and easily dry creases. I have never seen one like this before so very unique. The color and finish will look much better in natural light.

That is a fantastic find, Steve. For such an early hat all the recognizable features are there already. Lovely.

Along with the Knox this makes for two nice catches, Brent. This Panizza is worthy for any collection. They made excellent hats.

Saint Lucia must have a warm place in her heart for you, Daniele. That is one exceptional Borsalino!

This one arrived today. Not up to the standard Daniele set today, but a fine Borsalino product anyway.
Borsalino in the colour Folco in a size 60. Raw edge brim at 6cm and crown at 10,5cm at the pinch. Lovely (and uncommon) red liner. I think this is a seventies hat. Imported by Bodecker of Kopenhagen.

Bello! I like the "Folco" color. I have one with finish of the felt with short hair
