You guys have got me playing with my hats again. Another pre fall arrival. The Vintage Silhouettes box arrived on Monday. Always a treat to get a special delivery form Art Fawcett, a delightful gentleman.

Beautiful D! Art's bow work always blows me away. I can just imagine the coat you have to match. Can't wait to see it out and about.

2&3/8” brim 5&1/2” crown. Color Camel kind of on the yellow tone side. I’ve got the perfect camel coat to match.

Great felt. Quite pleased with this one. Can’t wait to step out in this bad boy.

Now that’s about the highest I would go on the crown height!
I myself have a reservation for high crown height but no higher than that.

To me it exudes presence that just caps the male ego!✌️ Ahahaha!‍♂️

What a show! Just superb!

No pun intended! I like a bit of a crown height on certain style of hats myself.
Now that one stands right out at yah!

Thanks for sharing!

How interesting... I was just thinking of sending you a message suggesting you grab a nice custom fedora! So this one is super nice, and it looks great on you!

Thanks, Tuk. I appreciate your sentiments. I have a few VS hats and a bunch of made to order Opitmos, but I have always admired your custom Gannon hats. I think that may be one of my next moves.

New fall arrival. One of Stetson’s latest models, Bogie in Phantom Grey, Excellent quality. 2 &1/2”brim with approximately a 4 & 1/2” crown. Pretty supple to the touch and reasonably well made. Overall pretty satisfied with this one. Will have to work it into the rotation.

I like it! Perfect name for a hat with a brim like that. Can't wait to see it in action.

Here is the other ancient French "Job" Chapelier Lezignan
2cnwnj4.jpg

What appears to be the older brother, since being stacked on top in the storage was eaten enough by moths.
Fortunately, it is not seen on black.
2vilapl.jpg

The hat is very similar to other French of the same period both in felt and in proportions
vdl1l2.jpg

The hat was made in Lezignan in the Esperaza area and the felt is slightly different from "the Perfection", it is more silky and with less wool and the texture is different
11l0m15.jpg

It has a beautiful white lining and embossed on the sweatband what you see in the photographs
19s47q.jpg

211332q.jpg

The proportions are: brim at 6 centimeters, crown at 13.5 centimeters and ribbon at 5 centimeters
2mo9f74.jpg

It has a greater fit than the other, although both are size 59. I have a couple of examples of French hats of the same period and one with the same brand, with the same proportions, but now it's too hot to look for them

I hope to still have the opportunity to unearth such findings.

That one's great, Steve. Sorry I don't comment on your hats more often. Most days, you leave me speechless. The hints of blue in that hat are sublime.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Jim, Thank you! There are so many great hats here including yours. I need to comment more.

^^^^What he said. I’d need a check off list of superlatives every day!!
Ribbon and brim binding....one of a kind!
B
Bowen, Thanks! I still can't recall any other hat I have with a similar bow or brim binding.

Wow, Steve, a real gorgeous lid... and in the perfect size, too!
Doug, Thanks! I was surprised to see that it was a 1/2 size. It's more round than oval so I needed to put spacers of on the sides.

Thanks for sharing Steve! That's got to be one of your euro-made fave lid!
Having a shade of Grey across the board sure completes the coverage of the Grey's fetish!:D

Rodney, Thank you! It's a nice one.

I really like that one as well Steve! The ribbon is simple, but what a cool look! The underbound brim (it there a correct term for that?) just adds to that. How loose is that 59-1/2 cm? :D
Bob, Thanks! It's a raw edge with a thin bottom binding. It does create a nice effect. It's ok front to back but needed a couple spacers on the sides. As mentioned it's more round than oval.

But alas direct from the UK my latest addition for this fall casual get up is from Christy's of London original down brim style that you can flip up and will stay up > my preference 60% of the time, just me again.

The head shape would be on the short side of LO. The front brim measures 3.0 inch and the sides are 2.5 and crown height is 5.0 inches respectively. The top is rounder atm. in which can be altered to a high sharp front if need be...…..I love this set up that Christy did on this one.
Looked at and read up on the Adventurer OC as well. Underdog mode sets in and opted this one instead as I have already an OC.:D

We all know that's hats are a hit and miss w/o seeing in person let alone trying it on for real now and ever.
I've been lucky and fortunate that so far I have only returned one of all my online purchases or bids (knock on wood)

I'll be rocking and playing with settings on this one for a while and just to see what it could become to.;)

Thoroughbred 10X. It is labeled as “Moleskin finish” but it doesn’t feel any different than my other westerns.

It came with a strange cushioned reducer adhesive strip behind the sweat. It is in good shape and the hat fits fine (it’s a 7 3/4) so I left it.

Beautiful lids all around gentlemen, Congrats!
Dlaniger: That Fawcett is fantastic, which is not surprising, I have to agree with Bob's statement concerning Art's ribbon/bow work, his is what everyone else strives for. That is not a slight against the great hat makers out there but Art's work has always stood out.

Yeah, I know. You’ve got to just wear those high crown hats! No apologies. The more you wear them the more they grow on you. LOL [emoji6]

Agree completely. I've been wearing the 30's style tall and straight crowns for so long that the shorter, modern height crowns look strange to me.
