If you look close at the paper tag, you'll see the color of this one is "sand" [emoji14]Rick may be the only one around here with a greater affinity than me for thin ribbon OR styled hats. When I see them I try to put my hands in my pockets. I just don't need another silverbelly but that doesn't stop me from wanting them.

Mike, thanks. It really is an unusual style, but that's why I had to have it.I didn't know it was a back bow! The huge ribbon makes for a rather tall looking back bow treatment. It so cool in many ways Stefan. It is an odd ball for sure, but really cool!
It's probably not willing to travel overseas thoughAssuming 1940’s, please correct if wrong or please advise if there is a more narrow window.
Frayed bow end, 5.5” open crown, 2.5” brim

I haven’t creased as yet, it’s willing for anything.
John, thanks. Reminds me a bit of some of the German trachten hats. This one feels less costumy though.Cool! That wide ribbon is certainly unusual, and the low crown really emphasizes it.

Stetson 3X probably mid 50s
Silverbelly 2 7/8” brim and about 5 1/2” open crown
Sweatband crest has stars instead of Mapleleaf
$18 store price tag is too high for mid 50s, that’s a little confusing
Embroidered Last Drop liner
3/4” 6 bead sweat with longhorn pun
Manufacturers tags prior to 57

YES.....Westerns sold for more than their fedora counterparts.....they were bigger hats requiring more felt, and often more finish work........I posted picts from my Miller Stockman from 53.......check it out here: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/thre...g-and-ephemera-of-the-golden-era.92141/page-3That price is very believable. Miller-Stockman sold that hat for $18.00 in this time frame. They sold a ton of 3X western hats for $20.
Very nice. Nostalgia is a good name for it. Classic.New Old Sock Stetson Nostalgia I bought off eBay:
The felt feels the same as my current production Premier Royal DeLuxe Stratoliners. It was easy to crease and it fits true to size. I’m quite pleased with the quality for the price.

Alan you mention OPS era. I am not familiar with that. Please explain?Very nice... parts are often confounding to date. You would expect $15 price at that point in time... especially since that size tag is often found with O.P.S. era hats. Go figure.
