One thing we like about a "stiffer" hat is the bash and how you shape your brim will stay that way once you have it "set up" the way you desire it to be. I like that hat a lot!
Geez...some of those small headed folks will be contacting you now....! LOL!Do these count?
In their original boxes.....1940's......each hat has the tip label.

From what I've seen of vintage hat size availability I'd say they seldom ever grow up.
Very special, Steve. Panama or straw hats are very rare in these parts, so great to see one of this vintage.Ottmar Reich probably mid to late 1930 to early 1940s. I think the straw type is probably Asia sourced (possibly Japanese Paper Panama) but bleached in Germany. Interesting bow design, brim treatment and form. There is no paper label and I assume it probably had some type of crown tip patch originally. This is definitely a rare find. This came from the same East German (near Leipzig) seller of the recent Echt Velour.
This one came in this week, but I still needed to take pictures of it. Battersby backbow fedora in green (new sage according to the label). Fairly low crowned hat at 9cm at the pinch, with the overwelt brim at 5,5cm. Size 7, so a bit roomy for me (not a storm-proof hat). The ribbon is what caught my eye. Very wide at 6,5cm (about 2 5/8 inches) and the widest ribbon I have on a hat. It was unlined, but I did have an unused battersby liner that needed a second life. I don't think this hat was designed for the pinch it now has, but I like the way this looks.

Yhanks, 65. It's really something isn't it.What a great color combo. I don't recall seeing a hat with such a wide ribbon. Doesn't look bad at all.
I didn't know it was a back bow! The huge ribbon makes for a rather tall looking back bow treatment. It so cool in many ways Stefan. It is an odd ball for sure, but really cool! This one came in this week, but I still needed to take pictures of it. Battersby backbow fedora in green (new sage according to the label). I'm very sensitive to hats that that have a really tall crown or wide brim. This brim is great, but I'm not sure how the taller brim works with my big head.
Stetson 3X probably mid 50s
Sweet get Dale! I have one as well and it is a great hat!Adam Open Road style, the Austin. The lady I got it from said it had been a gift to her dad from a business associate back in the 50s.

Thanks Rick. I thought I remembered seeing one of these on here somewhere. This felt is a little sturdier than either my Stetson or my Anthony Open Road, but it's definitely a good one. It'll make a nice daily driver, I think.Sweet get Dale! I have one as well and it is a great hat!
