Just arrived!
My new Borsalino linen 8/4 cap (oatmeal).
Other than needing a little steaming to smooth the shipping wrinkles, I like it!

That's a nice looking cap. It'd be perfect for the hot weather down here.

Next up is my new vintage Borsalino Parabuntal straw. I was thinking on taking this to my niece's wedding, but my family can be a little rough so I may leave this beauty safe at home. Nothing is as light as this parabuntal straw. Lighter than a feather or a tissue, this feels like it might just float away. I wouldn't wear it on a windy day unless it was glued on tight. Color is off in these pics. It's actually more like the ebay pics which I'll include at the end (just one....)

Looking at the pics, this hat is even darker, golden brown than even the last ebay pic. Excellent straw!

Both are great scores Doug! Love the patina color on the Borsalino. I notice it has the logo in the bow, is it of recent manufacture?

I took a gamble on a modern Milan Stratoliner. Pretty good quality, a little big, as my noggin runs between 7-3/8 and 7-1/2, so this is expected. But I really like the hat. This is the sand color and I like that a lot, too. I got this from ebay, but through fellow FL'r Mike @Monavillecowboy . This was the best price I've seen, so if you guys are thinking about one of these you might give Mike a look-see. Hot as Haiti outside, on the way to 107F degrees here, again. I might just take this to my niece's wedding.

First shot is for Bob / @Bob Roberts , who likes the brim up sometimes. :)

My haberdasher has a milan Strat on display (Facebook) I think it needs a feel. He is probably full boat retail though. How much are these supposed to cost? I have not searched them.

No, Red, the newer parabuntal is not this fine of weave. It came in a cardboard box with the Borsalino sticker on the side. Looks to be an original shipping box.

Retail on the Milan Stratoliner is closer to $102.50 plus shipping. This came to me for $65 plus shipping.

I'll see what my friend Oscar is selling them for tomorrow.

I've been after a cheap felt western for awhile now, that I could mess around with a little. Finally found one. I'd guess this Eddy Bros is 70s or 80s, a decent felt but still inexpensive enough to play around with. I wanted a 50s look, so I gave it a horseshoe crease kinda modeled after this wild green one worn by Buddy Charleton, who played steel guitar for Ernest Tubb. I gotta work on getting those sides a little higher.

Thanks! Yeah, I got the linen because it is so hot here in summer. The oatmeal color is much nicer than I'd expected. I'm still trying to find something in my closet that this cap WON'T go with. My wife hasn't seen it yet. I'm pretty stoked to surprise her with it on a date night. I'm expecting, "that's a really nice hat". Then I hate the "how much was it?" follow up.
Of course I could just cram an entire Twix bar in my mouth right before I answer. That always works for the guy in the commercial.
