Steam, brush and sponge gave new life to him and his cronies.
These Barbisio, both produced in Sagliano Micca, before the close of the historical plant, particularly interested me for two reasons:
a) it is very hard to find homburg branded Barbisio. Even more so with indicated the origin of the fur that makes them.
In this case "rat-Gondin" or Nutria, called in this way from this side and the other side of the Atlantic
Found this at a real bargain prize. A borsolini which I presume is quit old.
I added pictures and data the same day of the post you mentioned in the Barbisio brothersWonderful rat-gondin... you will share inside attributes to the Barbisio thread, I hope. You might remember its Bulgarian brother that is currently in my collection.
Wow looks like a whole new hat to me! Hahah! You are so welcome. It was a hard choice to say "so long" to that hat as BOND made it look as pretty as can be.Texas Hatters. The story goes that it started as a Dress Weight Western. Reworked. Customized. Crown however, was steamed and re-blocked by yours truly. 2 3/4 brim trimming and ribbon detailed by Bond. The crown is a 6 inches which leaves room for a tighter pinch and deeper frontal crown 'point' (inspired by TJones) Still having fun with this beauty! Thanks Cindy!
Benchcraft was selling a very similar Borso last year, minis the welt issues which on your hat is much more desirable then what was on the Benchcraft model. Oh they are not a cheap price either. You got a nice find there. It's been a while since I found anything worth a fig at the flea market or thrift stores. Hopefully this score from yesterday will reverse that trend.
Just a mid-grade Panama it seemed.
Till I took a closer look, that is.
My guess is that this is Borsalino's entry-level Panama. Still not a cheap lid when new. Five dollars was what I paid!
It had a deep center dent with a sharp point that had created a weak spot. I decided to reblock it and put in a crease that took the stress off that part before it cracked or turned into a depp-hole. There isn't much damage otherwise besides a few loose straw ends at the overwelt.
Sweat and tag pics:
Size marked is a 60, but fit more like a big 59. Foam strips made it fit nicely. 2 3/4' brim, 4 1/2" crown as creased.
Head shots when weather permits.
You have a classy Goodwill, all I ever find is redneck baseball hats. This is what I dream about! It's been a while since I found anything worth a fig at the flea market or thrift stores. Hopefully this score from yesterday will reverse that trend.

Looks to be in pristine shape! Nice straw! I'm sure it wont be your last!!A new acquisition to the collection is a vintage 1950s Stetson Medalist. The sweatband is in prefect condition. The name Lanburgh's is printed in gold. Presumably the owner wore it once in a while. I might ask the seller for more detail. Enjoyed it all day. Brim on one side is lifted than the other but hey ho, I can fix that later.
Thank you!Looking quite jaunty Bertie. Suits you well.

Thanks Bama!Nice, Moe. Pretty sure I know someone it would fit without the use of foam strips. Just a thought.
The bend is slight and actually gives it a neat look! Good look for you!!! Nice find!A new acquisition to the collection is a vintage 1950s Stetson Medalist. The sweatband is in prefect condition.
