Thank you for your kind words.
I really love this hat!
I really love this hat!
That's NICE of you, Bob... :deadhorse
My latest from Advintage. It's a 100% beaver felt from Fepsa.
This is by far the best modern felt I've ever handled. It has a velvety smooth hand and is incredibly dense, but being thinner than Winchester dress felts is actually lighter.
The colour is incredibly hard to photograph. Its a medium grey with earthy undertones. Thomas calls it smoke and that describes it well.
Though the temperature is in the 30's here (almost 90 degrees F) I can't force myself to change it for a straw. It's such a beautiful hat!
And even NICER! of you to say so...
We should start a "Thread of Niceness." You first...!
very nice
I have a couple Lee hats that I like very much
thats a keeper
looks to be '60s or '70s maybe ?
Yes indeed, my Husband already loves it.Great Lee hat. I bet it will be well enjoyed.
I know, every once in a while I find a gem like this. This one is a keeper! That Lee is a real find!

The store it is from, was in the equatable building. According to the Chamber of Commerce, the inside shops went out of business early 1960's. I believe the equatable building itself was some sort of insurance or real estate company. The owner of the building was going to convert it to living spaces, but he got himself tossed in a big mess for wrongful disposal of asbestos......? LOL!
It is a sharp hat. I think maybe Dobbs may have made this one? The "fifth avenue" part, sort of brings me to think of Dobbs, as that is on the Lee label, fifth avenue..... (what was on avenue one through 4?....)LOL!
The size tag I think being that sort of square, rectangle shape, makes me think 1960's as they hat also has that plastic in the top of the liner. I think hats from the 1950's had more of that keyhole shape to the size tags.
Speaking of him how is he doing, miss seeing here on the Forum although it looks like your holding up the fort for the both of you , tell him I said hey ,you two are the best!
All the Best ,Your Friend Frank
He is starting to recover from his last Heart Attack. Bit slow on everything, but geez, he still has his sense of humor, (it has rubbed off on me over the years, too). He makes some comments while in the Hospital or Doctors office that destroys any serious attitude to such a level, everyone has to go out of the room to recover their composer! LOL! As he says, if you can't laugh any more, how do you expect them to collect your taxes? LOL!
