Wellington that I couldn't stand to leave sitting on the shelf. Identical blocking to my other one. Found padding in the sweatband that appears to have been there since 1951.

You Are correct Sir!

Frank, Great looking Boater. Baltimore was somewhat of a straw hat center back in the day.

Hello Mayserwegener , you are correct sir, I have read many articles about Baltimore and the straw hat business there .
I read one article that talked about "hat day" I think it was May 15 but anyway everyone would go to the baltimore home opener of the season and they would punch their fist thru their old boater from the year before and just before the first pitch everyone would toss they now " broken" boater down to the field and then the next day you would see everybody with their new boaters on untill the next year and then do it again , very interesting.

All the Best, Fashion Frank

Mark your black beauty is fantastic! Great roll of the dice, you WON!

WOW-za Jeff! You hit the jackpot with that one, sir. That could be your new signature hat. It's that good on you!

Had a bit of time to take a brush to the Stetson and apply a bit of steam to shape it.

Open crowned and brushed. Not perfect, but better than it was fresh out of the box.

The ribbon is wrinkled, but I hope the steam will smooth it out a bit.

A few shots of the sweat and liner, along with a pic of the ferrule starting to corrode. :(

A couple of shots after applying some steam and working it into a rough teardrop crease.
