Nice one Alan.

Here's a Dobbs of unknown vintage I grabbed at the thrift store for a few bucks this afternoon.

It looks kind of washed out in the phone pics. It's a sort of whiskey/caramel color, and the band looks like it may have been brown at one time but it faded to a sort of burgundy color.
It's way to small for me, but it fit my son pretty well.

He's pretty stoked about his first "real" hat.

Thanks for the kind words gents. He even cleared out a special place to keep it when he's not wearing it. I was pretty impressed.

Stetson Real Nutria Fur derby

Ample dimensions - 5 3/4 block (crown height measures about 5.5"), 2 3/16 brim. Note early real nutria fur logotype... the nutria became much more beaver-like in subsequent versions. Age uncertain - 20s at latest but perhaps a decade or two earlier. Retail tag shows $6. MLR opened their Chicago store in 1907.
