Actually I was just making a joke in my case, because I don't think you can narrow down dates in most cases to the part of the month. So don't take my word for it. I always am in favor of an intuitive guess though based on style. The others here will give you real information.

Simply beautiful in all ways. Felt is awesome and the color is exquisite .

Very nice even without the association. G. Henry lasted a long time-1887 until 1983.
The sweatband seems different than the usual.

Among the many vintage hats I keep around here -- for inspiration, for study, and just to have -- is a very clean grey early Playboy, which I believe is referenced elsewhere in this thread.

I just love old Stetson Playboys, mostly for their simple elegance. They were relatively inexpensive hats to manufacture (thin body equals less felt; simple, narrowish ribbon and bow, so less material there as well; and generally unlined, although there are exceptions) and to purchase. Only the single row of wholly decorative stitching near the brim edge might be considered a "fancy" embellishment.

If I could get the lightweight bodies, I'd make near-clones. Still, I take inspiration from the Playboy, and have made several variations on the theme, including this Westernized version I made for myself. Same 9 ligne ribbon, same (or nearly so) row of brim stitching, but a higher crown and a wider brim. Oh, and that "Rough Rider" bow countrifies it quite a bit. I include it in the "Plowboy" class of hat.
