But I am looking for the specs on the early Air-light Playboy mid 1930s
I do see your ribbon bow is same as Dinermans early Air-light
I know as we grew into the 1940s the brim width grew & the the taper increased in the open crown but the crown grew lower
as well as the bow changed . I like the early version
I have 2 Playboys one is very similar to GDurands & mine has a 2 7/8" brim & 5 1/4" crown & 13/16" ribbon
it has a 122 block sticker & might be late 40's to early 50"s
& a late one early 60"s ?? at 2 1/4"brim & 5 1/8" open crown
I also found this great thread by Lefty it has some great pics & ads there is D-Man in there wearing the HAT ! http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?54485-Stetson-Air-Light
Boy there was some great input & sharing not too long ago on the FL
great stuff in there by Robert rlk & others
Didn't mean to dig up the past but there is just some amazing info within these threads a much more informative past
verses current day threads

Thanks

Perfection by josh
I remember somewhere Josh did a great repair & straight blocked a 30's Playboy Air-light
Here is an Air-Light Playboy owned by RLK. There may well have been seasonal and fashion variations in the Playboy form during the pre WWII years. Mine is likely later than the Air-Lite examples - I believe it to be in 1937-1941 neighborhood. The Playboy mark was registered in 1935 showing a first trade use in February 1934.
A stunning example there Alan:eusa_clap
Very good info you just shared as there are so many variables with just the Playboy alone & you targeted the one I want !
I sure do miss Roberts regular posts.
Good to learn about the K2R product as well.
Thanks

the mid 1930's Air-Light Playboy is something I've been looking for too long even before I joined the FL
unless someone out there got a connection on one in a 7 1/8 - 7 1/4 Long Oval PM me "hint"
Yes I would get one made with exact specs. Im doing my homework now reviving these threads.
but my goal is a vintage find
Art made me something pretty close & I wear it a lot
but you know how it is I put in my 2cents Tweaks on the specs not being specific to the Air-Light Playboy
pics are 2 years old ? & I believe posted somewhere here
Che, you might broaden your eBay search to include the Dobbs Cross Country. The market niche and form were very similar to the Stetson Playboy, though I believe the Cross Country goes back earlier. I did a comparison of both here.
I would love a vintage piece too. I have a 60's Playboy waiting to be renovated when I have the cash but a pre war one would be a "Grail" hat for sure.
