Some hats at an antique shop we stopped in this afternoon:

Aunt's Bea's hat (Andy Griffith Show). Purple hues, and a little faded; my wife didn't like it as she though it belonged to a little old lady... said she'd come back to buy it when she turns 70.

Texas Hatters White felt Topper. Some stains (from dead bugs?) and some mothing in several spots. Sandra wears a 7-1/8 and all these fit her.

About 1940s (?) 7-1/8 Penney's Marathon in really good shape. Nice felt, no problems anywhere. Could use a cleaning but not mandatory. Looks like it has an organic reed on the sweatband. If it was a 7-3/8 or 7-1/2 I would have bought it.

I have been watching one of these on eBay for a while, but the seller refused to go down one cent from his asking price, so it's been sitting there for a year.
Then I saw a fellow lounger friend bought one for 300, and almost succumbed to the temptation to buy the one on eBay

Mr. Engel himself offered this one for 300 on FB, so I jumped on it.

Glad to see you were able to get it at a decent price. There is an old thread for this maker started by Moon.

I like yours better than the one I got. I think yours has a wider brim. Mine is only 2 1/2”. I sent mine to Mike Miller today. I’m hoping Mike can make the brim wider. He will also be replacing the ribbon. The specs on mine currently are; Crown 6 1/2” Open, 5 1/8” as creased. The ribbon is 2”. I was surprised at how he shipped the hat to me. It arrived pretty misshapen. But that’s OK since I knew I was gonna send it to Mike.

I will be taking mine to Ignacio. My brim is 2 5/8, Nicholas said. It is 6 1/8 tall.

Another interesting hat to see compared to your big guns. I've seen that auction many times and often wondered if the hat could live up to the asking price. Odd that Petersham ribbon is used.

I'm curious to see what it looks like after Mike Miller gets his hands on it and I must admit I'm not blown away by how it looks right now (not talking about the colour, which does look very nice). But I'm guessing that is exactly the reason why you're sending it to Mike Miller, Bill.

Ignacio could make it look like an Optimo [emoji4]

Just ordered this Nashville in Throughbred Melusine from Optimo. Thee swatch is in the last pic. It is supposed to be really shiny.

Tiffani said it was an interesting combination, and cleared her throat. [emoji1]
I have been imagining that combo for a year. What could be better than a Thoroughbred Western?

The 6 cord ribbon will be the same
