Found this beauty waiting on the doorstep this morning. I was beginning to give up hope and it was lost forever in the depths of the USPS.

A bit of a confession from someone who has been locked down by the pandemic for far too long and has an urge to emerge from hibernation and live again. Some of you may be aware of the Optimo Insider Club and their periodic e-mails with offers of products which are intended to appeal to the avaricious side of the personality. I confess that I have succumbed to sensation and went ahead and ordered an item from their Montecristi Cellar Event. The hat I ordered will be a Montecristi Homburg design. I have not ordered from Optimo in several years but the temptation was too great and I have thrown caution and good judgment to the wind to indulge myself. I will report back when the item arrives around Memorial Day

Some months ago, I sent in an old Optimo hat of mine for servicing. They cleaned it and re-blocked it and put in a brand new liner and a brand new sweatband.

However, it came back as shown in the picture here, with the sweatband not properly attached to the liner on one side, and instead it juts out and becomes squiggly.

Does anyone have any idea why that might have happened?

Would you say Optimo is being lax in their quality standards to allow something like that to happen?

You should call them and send a picture!

"Take care of their things, OR use them more...." I feel he reached that point where he didn't mean to say that, realizing he wants people to use their Optimo`s....and reaches that switch around mode. For a promotional video, always best to have the words well thought out! But that sure is a special institution, and hats off to Graham - the hat world would not be the same without Optimo, dear as they are.

I commented elsewhere in the Lounge that the Optimos with a white liner I have bought on eBay are not as good as the ones with a yellow liner.
I recently bought this brown heather-textured fedora and asked Graham Thompson for his opinion.
This was his reply:

Max I’m sorry I turned off notifications for WhatsApp and just saw this. This is a very early optimo.. maybe year 2… as our hats have improved drastically since then, the quality you’ll notice isn’t anywhere near what we make today.. but still the early pieces are very rare and collectible.
Also the material and finishing will never be like our newer stuff.
Our new silver belly’s are extraordinary. I’d recommended you get one of our blue Pearl lightweight belly fur hats in a full crown. They are amazing

Beautiful! How much did you pay for it, if you don't mind saying?
I would rather not go into specifics. In their e-mail on the Optimo Insiders Club Cellar event, Optimo quoted a range of price points. The price I paid was less than the maximum and more than the minimum of the prices quoted by Optimo. I had not purchased anything from Optimo in a number of years and I suppose this was a way of celebrating the end of the Covid lockdown and getting out into the world again
