Open Road/Stetson 100 Hat Box Design...Thoughts please

Hi again,

Thanks for being a sounding board. Based on Feltfan and Sharptoys thoughts I have popped off a couple of possibilities. Pleae give your vote/thoughts on them. Once again...I am avoiding the common box shape..and since these hats are West/Road/dessert imaged (to me) I thought that the box body echos the "horizon" feel.

Here's you chance...and hey...speak up BEFORE I cut the leather and beat my head against the wall over molds how to work it will ya!? lol

The Stetson 100 *has* an official luggage-quality
box already.

As for the Open Road (and it would be nice if it
de-emphasized the particular name for those of
us who also wear Resistol 100s, Cavanagh 100s,
Dobbs West/Westward, Borsalino OR clones, etc),
do an image search on Google for "Stetsonia coryne".
That's a cactus with a scientific name honoring Stetson.
It is also a very distinctive cactus with some of the
longest spines of the family. Might be a good motif.

I like the wavy road, too. Also one distinctive feature
is the narrow band.

Good suggestions! Thanks. The box wouldn't have the Open Road name on it as that is still a produced item by Stetson and I don't want copywrite problems, but the road theme might fit the others as well.

I did a little research on the Stetsonia coryne. From what I found, It is grows naturally in Argentina and Bolivia, and only when cultivated in the US...which makes me wonder why the Stetson connection? Putting one along the road ...might work....ummmmm for an Argentinian hat...lol (teasin)

I realize that the 100 has a container...but I was asked to design one for an owner (he has the other container as well) and felt that the open west idea might fit that that too.

Any thoughts on the Box shape? Workable?

I like the top picture. It has me humming the theme to "Route 66" by Nelson Riddle. I like the way it streaks off to the horizon.
