I'd be very careful of any mention of the "B" word......Boeing is, and has been very aggressive in demanding outrageous licensing fees for the use of their name, even to the point of sueing model airplane manufacturers if they call their B-17 kit's a "Boeing" B-17, or even use the name "Flying Fortress".

Magus - I'm running against the flow here, but have to say that all I see when I look at your design #1 is a basketball. I like your newest design best, the one on this page with the Stratoliner logo and the two lines below it. That looks deco and does not trigger the image of a basketball for me.

Hi,
I know this is an old thread but I stumbled into this on a search for something else.
As soon as I saw your tooled and winged top I thought, "looks great, waste of space and effort for the rest of the box."
Then; what if the really cool shape you had on the top was only on the top and roughed in on the bottom, round box, and a dowel as a handle between the tip area of the wing to the bottom parallel to the side of the box? Am I describing it well enough to see?
The part of the wing extending from the cylinder would need to be reinforced. Perhaps some nice plywood to laminate the leather to.
Now you have me thinking...
