BTW...please be careful with an iron-on stencil. I almost damaged one of my deck jackets by using a too hot iron...it left a slight imprint of the iron on the jacket. Fortunately I was able to brush it out with one of my hat brushes, but it was a close call that has left me very timid about using iron-on stencils.

@AF. THANK YOU. I was sweating that last night as I thought about it. I'll give this some thought.

@Coop: I could help thinking of you this week with all the Ventura goodness here. Hoping you get one again someday. We have a spot in the club with your name on it.
Merry Christmas!

Wearing my snug warm Buzz N-1 today (storms in SE England with 60-70 mph winds last night, loss of power in 100,000 homes, trees down...).

Scott, one alternative to an iron-on stencil is to go "old school" and buy a letter stencil kit (Office Max or Staples has it, both re-usable metal or cheaper cardboard) and a black fabric marker (less bleed on clothing since its specialized for fabric; available from any arts and crafts store) and just use the U-S-N letters from the stencil kit and go for it.
That's how we marked almost every article of clothing we had back in Navy boot camp. Just a thought.

You might think about getting the USN stitched on. If you know anyone with a high-end sewing machine, just take the stencil and they might be able to stitch one on, or take it ti a sporting goods store that does uniforms etc. and they might be able to sew it on. Just a thought!

I am 5'11 180 and wear a 42 normally, and like jackets with 22.5 P2P, 1/2 inch either way...and went for the medium based on that measurement, and figuring w/lining et al it would be about right. . I could barely get it on--over just a regular shirt--slightly easier over a t-shirt... and sent it back.
Oddly, It did measure close to their posted #'s when flattened and pulled tight....but judging from the fit I am not sure even a Large at 26 P2P would fit me.

Butte, did you take your normal size?

On their site, a medium has pit to pit is 24.4 inches. That seems huge.

nice looking Pike N1, difficult to see the difference in thickness compared to my older version of the Pike N1 but does look less bulky.
some close up pics of the hardware (if you get time) would be great so I can see if they have upgraded or kept the same.
I personally wouldn't stencil with ink due to the bleeding effect on the jungle cloth but then again I wouldn't stencil anyway as I prefer the jacket without.

Thanks Marv. I like the look but am afraid I'll screw it up!
I'll get some pics. I think it's lighter as I have a couple buddies that have or handled both. They say the newest version (identified by the L, XL, XXL tags) is lighter.
I'm still looking out for an old one to have both and so I can see for myself.
Will try to get some pics for you.

Imagine the embarrassment if you put the stencil on back to front! :eeek:
